Leonardo DiCaprio is in early talks to star in Warner Bros.' adaptation of the new David Ignatius novel, Body of Lies.

Ridley Scott will direct the project, which reunites DiCaprio with screenwriter William Monahan, Oscar-winning writer of The Departed.

Donald De Line and Scott are producing the co-production of Scott Free Productions and De Line Pictures. Scott Free's Michael Costigan is executive producer.

Leo will make the film this fall after first reteaming with Titanic co-star Kate Winslet on Revolutionary Road, the Sam Mendes-directed DreamWorks drama that shoots in April.

Scott already is scouting venues in Morocco for a film that will shoot in Washington, D.C., Europe and the Middle East.

DiCaprio will play an ex-journalist-turned CIA agent who's sent to Amman to work with Jordan's intelligence chief to track an Al Qaeda leader rumored to be planning attacks against America.

I haven't read the book but the teaming of DiCaprio and Ridley puts this right on my radar

More on the book

Synopsis
Roger Ferris is one of the CIA's soldiers in the war on terrorism. He has come out of Iraq with a shattered leg and an intense mission - to penetrate the network of a master terrorist known only as "Suleiman." Ferris' plan for getting inside Suleiman's tent is inspired by a masterpiece of British intelligence during World War II: He prepares a body of lies, literally the corpse of an imaginary CIA officer who appears to have accomplished the impossible by recruiting an agent within the enemy's ranks. This scheme binds friend and foe in a web of extraordinary subtlety and complexity, and when it begins to unravel, Ferris finds himself flying blind into a hurricane. His only hope is the urbane head of Jordan's intelligence service - a man who might be an Arab version of John le Carre's celebrated spy, George Smiley. But can Ferris trust him?

damn... Leo know how to pick his movies

Crowe Joining DiCaprio in Body of Lies

Russell Crowe will join Leonardo DiCaprio in Body of Lies, the William Monahan-scripted adaptation of the David Ignatius novel that Ridley Scott will direct for Warner Bros.

Donald De Line and Scott are producing; the film shoots in the fall, says Variety.

Crowe will play Ed Hoffman, the manipulative CIA boss who teams with operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) to trap a dangerous Al-Qaeda leader by planting a false rumor that the bomber is in cahoots with the Americans.

Crowe has been courted to play the CIA boss since DiCaprio signed on in April. He's awaiting a polish by American Gangster screenwriter Steve Zaillian before formally committing

Crowe Filmed Body of Lies in Annapolis
Source: The Associated Press
September 9, 2007

Russell Crowe is spending much of September in the Baltimore-Washington region filming scenes for a new thriller, Body of Lies.

The movie is Crowe's fourth collaboration with director Ridley Scott. They teamed up for the Oscar-winning Gladiator, 2006's A Good Year and the upcoming American Gangster, co-starring Denzel Washington.

On Friday, Crowe was in Annapolis, shooting two scenes at St. Andrew's United Methodist Day School. Scott is using locations in Baltimore to stand in for Manchester, England, and Munich, Germany. The production will later move to Morocco.

Body of Lies, based on a novel by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio. In the film, Crowe will play Ed Hoffman, the manipulative CIA boss who teams with operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) to trap a dangerous Al Qaeda leader by planting a false rumor that the bomber is in cahoots with the Americans

****, Crowe and DiCaprio. *passes out*

I can't believe Crowe is somewhere around here!

I wonder if they'll need extras? :checks for casting call:

Forgot to mention this here but better late than never.:woot:

News has broken in the media over here that Carice Van Houten has been cast as DiCaprio's wife in Body of Lies! All of her scenes will be filmed in Morocco because they were unable to get a US work visa according to her agent.

The article also states that she's been cast in Repossession Mambo (is there a thread for that? ) starring Forrest Whitaker and Jude Law. She'll shoot that in Toronto after she's done with the Ridley Scott movie. If all goes to plan when that's wrapped she'll then head straight into Vivaldi co-starring Lena Headey, Gerard Depardieu and Joseph Fiennes, star in a play in January and shoot another movie in South Africa. Puff...
