THE DARK KNIGHT's 2007 "To Do List"
Author: Jett
Wednesday, August 2, 2006 - 9:58 AM CENTRAL TIME:
I have made a "Must Do List" for THE DARK KNIGHT. CLICK HERE to read...
According to multiple sources, it seems that the reason for delay in "officially" announcing Ledger was The Joker was a combination of contract negotiations, scheduling, and Ledger and WB being a bit coy about the whole thing... No confirming word as of yet about the inclusion of The Penguin and whether or not Philip Seymour Hoffman will be involved.

I still cant understand where do they find negative opinions about Ledger

what the heck are you talking about now, Cinnnamon?

Err....what exactly was negative about that little blurb?

just means they had to work out stuff before it was official.

but it is now, yeah?

It doesn't need to show The Joker at all. Hearing an insane laughter would be just as effective.

Yeah, it's great advice. And much needed too, considering how f'n ******ed WB is in marketing. :down

The Spider-Man franchise IS this generation's 70s Superman and 80s Batman. They just do everything right. The release of the one-sheets, the way trailers are cut, the music being used, the timing of what is released when...everything. If anyone saw the leaked Comic Con footage of SM3, it was crappy quality, but even I could feel the chills of every single fan out there once Venom was finally shown.

THAT is what we need for TDK. Batman vs Joker hasn't been on screen for nearly 2 decades by the time the film is released. We need a huge marketing push, these 2 characters are giants in the pop culture world. No holding back WB. Please.

And I don't care what Jett, or anyone else says. TDK will NOT cross $300 million dollars at the D.O. In fact, I probably won't even put it past $250 million.

Sorry guys, I think I was sleeping, when I posted this :(

yeah, WB can't hold back.

And yes, I do beleive that Dark Knight can manager to past 250..

I think they should show Joker in 1st trailer, because he is their main card, which can create more hypeness.

BB did 205 million, along with impressive DVD sales. Assuming the sequel's decent, you'd be a fool to think it wouldn't get at least 250 million. BB could be considered a sleeper hit, and sequels to sleeper hits alsmost always do well...

I doubt TDK will make $300m, most likely $230-260m.

They shouldn't blow their load right from the get-go. It's all about the foreplay...

Opening weekend: $68m

Domesticly: $241m

Overseas: $188m

Worldwide: $429m

Jett's "To Do List" is dead on. One brief shot of the Joker is all that's needed for the teaser. And one a one-sheet would be cool. I'd add a some sort of reference to the Joker, like his shadow or his face shrouded in darkness with on his evil grin showing.

I think it's a mistake to focus on the villains too much. You're starting to repeat the mistakes of the past franchise...

Everyone here has pretty much said to keep a small glimpse of Joker in the teaser. We're not asking all the marketing to be focused on him, but certainly a lot of it should feature him once they're ready to fully reveal Joker to the public. This is the greatest comic book villain, surely he deserves it.

Why is it that someone who acknowledges that the marketing for Begins was “spot on” feels compelled to tell WB how to market the sequel? Either WB knows how to do it or they don’t, and if they do then they don’t need any ‘must do’ list from any of us.

I am not agreed with Jett.

But I really think WB need to change their crappy marketing strategy, which doesn't help their blockbusters in box office.

There should be more hypeness, more huge promotion and much better trailers.

They should learn some lessons from Marvel movies strategy.
