It was announced today by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Entertainment, that the 22nd James Bond adventure will be released by Columbia Pictures on May 2, 2008 with Daniel Craig reprising the role of the legendary British secret agent.

The story for the latest James Bond film produced by the franchise holders, EON Productions has yet to be announced.

"As we wrap production on 'Casino Royale' we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig. Daniel has taken the origins of Ian Fleming's James Bond portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007," said Wilson and Broccoli.

Awesome news.. just read the front page. Casino Royale looks to go back and be a little more serious of a Bond, which is awesome- the books have always had an edge over the movies. To think that we're now getting a Bond film that is serious in tone and really develops character is fantastic, and I can't wait to see 007's story continue come May 2008.

So bond now becomes summer time blockbuster?

shame..can't wait to see the new bond in action.

2008!? That sure is a long time. I can't wait to see 007 again though.

5/2/08??

That's the same day as Iron Man. WTF?

I don't think for a min thats this will come out in May of 08.

Yeah...

May 2008 for Bond 22 is, in so many words...
moronic.

its too bad they couldnt capitalize on a 2007 release date for either film. Also, shouldnt they wait to see how casino royale fares before putting bong up against iron man? who will flinch first?

^^

Depends if craig is good in casino royale.. if he owns the role..expect iron man to be crushed..Bond will be around forver.

casino royale is gonna pwn.

breathing new life into james bond.

It's intriguing to think that we'll have had *two* James Bond films before we get another Batman film.

But 2008 is really proving to be quite the summer - BOND 22, BATMAN BEGINS 2, and *possibly* INDIANA JONES IV.

Narnia, Iron Man.

True, those two are also there, but I don't think IRON MAN is going to be anything other than a mediocre flick (seems par for the course as far as Marvel films are concerned).

And does Narnia come out in the summer?!

No, I like the Dalton movies just because of his tone as Bond... I hate the camp of the Moore films, wish Connery's stayed serious after Thunderball, and liked the realistic tone of Goldeneye the best of Brosnan. The films never developed character or anything though, and to see a serious tone and development is definitely welcome in my book.

Yeah, that would be the best marketing ever. Every time somebody wrote the date, they'd think of Bond.

July 7th, 2007.

That would've been bada$$.

It looks lke they will be trying to do all they can with the new guy
