What?

War Lord said:I wish Baseball would wipe all records obtained between 1995 and 2006, because almost everyone of them were obtained through drug use. I know that isn't going to happen, but how those records were obtained brings shame to baseball as far as I'm concerned.
lazur said:I'm a body builder. I know precisely what steroids does and how. I've seen plenty of guys on it, who achieved great results that left the rest of us 'natural' builders in the dust. But it's cheating, plain and simple. While steroids do still require muscle use in order to build, you do not have to work out as hard, and you certainly cannot achieve the same results in muscle growth WITHOUT steroids, period. Don't sit here and claim otherwise. There's a reason why people use steroids. It's for the immediate gratification of building mass WITHOUT all of the time-consuming effort and pain.
And no one is trying to say it gives him better balance or perspective in order to hit the ball. That's the TALENT that got him into the major leagues in the first place. There's no need to enhance that. But smacking the ball hard enough consistently requires POWER - not talent. And that POWER is precisely what he forged through the use of ILLEGAL drugs. And that power, derived from the illegal use of muscle enhancing drugs, is what put him in the record books.
I can't believe you're defending it.
Exactly. The fault is on the brass in the MLB for taking a lackadasical attitude with steroids. It wasn't until 2002 that Baseball started issuing tests for "performance-enhancing drugs".Son Of Logan said:I'm not really defending it. What I'm saying is that you can't totally blame steroids or Barry Bonds for the shame that MLB has brought on itself.
Tony_Montana said:How will you guys feel when he breaks Ruth record, because you know he will with all the games you have left its just a matter of time. I am just wondering how will you feel about it?
War Lord said:Was it because they couldn't read or write?
War Lord said:I'm sorry, but when you don't provide filler I have to read between the lines, so that joke was your fault and you should apologize.
There were some pretty good players in the black league and it's a good thing that sad time period in American history is over.

I'd love to see him get to 713, and then his knee just completely explodes.
At least he'll probably never get to THE record...Babe doesn't have the record, Hank does, and deservedly so. He DID go through real hell when he was chasing Ruth.
Colossal Spoons said:I'm really curious now. How many of y'all that are opposed to Bonds breaking the record would object if he hadn't used steroids? Or is there another reason it bothers y'all.

come on fellas... it's all about the crotch. he'll be down and out.

shut up
Every time someone is against a black man, someone has to come shout racism. Race has nothing to do with it. Bonds cheated to get where he is on the record list, and thats what annoys people. If you haven't noticed, theres already a black man ahead of Ruth, and everybody seems to be fine with it. Give the racist cries a rest. They only make the people shouting them look stupid.

Plus, you aren't likely going to pay a couple of grand to come up to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to kick my ass for what I say.
That gives me a little leeway.
Colossal Spoons said:I'm non-violent so I wouldn't come up there and "kick you ass" no matter what you said. I just don't get how you can disrespect so many people.
Colossal Spoons said:You've peaked my interest now. What is it that you enjoy about posting a-hole comments around here?
Colossal Spoons said:Notice I didn't say anything about racism in my post. Thanks for filling in the blanks though

Outsiderzedge said:War Lord believes that people's sensitivity about various things are one of the main causes of conflict and discord in our world. He is incapable of connecting with others, so he resorts to making offensive comments in an misguided attempt to bring levity to sensitive subject matter. I wouldn't pay him much mind.
War Lord said:Fairly accurate, except that what might be offensive to one person may not be to another and if we're going to guard our statements based on what might" be offensive, makes it impossible to say anything at all that is meaningful.

Colossal Spoons said:See, I agree too that A LOT on conflict in today's world would cease to exist if people were less sensitive. I just can't put my finger on this "dark edge" humor.
