Bong Joon-ho's PARASITE

Well-deserved win there! I'd be willing to bet it wins in the same category at the Oscars.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL. This is easily my #1 of 2019 and probably the most meticulously crafted film I've ever seen.

I watched this blindly going in knowing very little about it. Okay, now I see what all the fuss was about. It really surprised me with its originality and the constant changes in tone done in such a unique and inventive way.

You know a film is good when you sort of see the twist coming but it totally works anyway. Thoroughly enjoyed this film. The scene structure is impeccable and this has tremendous cinematography.

9.5/10

You know what's funny?

I thought I had it all figured out that the son's friend who hooked him up with the tutoring job was going to come back for some reason and thus expose the whole family. What actually happened was way more shocking and I didn't see it coming at all.

I wasn't aware that it was originally released in B&W. I don't know how I'm going to see this. My schedule is so tight.:( I hope they release it on video in B&W.

PARASITE (B&W Version) (2019)

Beginning this Friday, February 7 we'll be offering screenings of the B&W version of Parasite!

The B&W version was created prior to the film's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival where it won the Palme D'Or.

Director Bong Joon Ho on this version:

"I'm extremely happy to present PARASITE in black and white and have it play on the big screen. It will be fascinating to see how the viewing experience changes when an identical film is presented in black and white. I watched the black and white version twice now, and at times the film felt more like a fable and gave me the strange sense that I was watching a story from old times. "

"The second time I watched it, the film felt more realistic and sharp as if I was being cut by a blade. It also further highlighted the actors' performances and seemed to revolve more around the characters. I had many fleeting impressions of this new version, but I do not wish to define them before it is presented. I hope everyone in the audience can compare their own experiences from the color version and find their own path to PARASITE in black and white."

Just got home from this a little while ago and I loved it. Just completely insane. One of my top 3 of 2019

I worked it out. I'm going to see the B&W version on Monday. *obsessed*

A B&W version actually sounds like an interesting experience. Personally I usually don't feel the appeal of that concept if a film was made in colour for the theatrical version, but Parasite would be the exception for me in that matter.
