His genuine reaction is great.
This has to WIN Best Picture.
The problem is those films would almost never be nominated then. If given the choice, the older Academy members are likely to nominate 8-10 American films. The Foreign Language Film category at least forces them to watch and acknowledge some of these movies.Love Parasite so much, so ecstatic for the recognition and wider audience this win can bring to more foreign films. They should just get rid of the international film category altogether but that can only happen once the Academy puts all the excellent films outside of Hollywood and the US on even playing ground in all the categories.
I’m quite happy about Parasite’s awards.
But does anyone else think it’s a bit unfair that a movie can compete in two categories - i.e., “Best Picture” and “Best International Feature”? On one or two occasions (as I recall), a “Best Animated Feature” nominee also got to double up. To me, this seems like getting two bites at the apple.
As far as I know, an actor can’t enhance their chances and be nominated in two categories (best and supporting) for the same performance. So why is it different for movies?

Whoa, really? I'm completely unaware of how movies work! It's called sound design.
I didn't notice it. I guess I need a 4th viewing to catch that.Really enjoyed this movie, glad to see it winning all the awards. I had one MAJOR problem though, but no one else seemed to have noticed. Maybe it was a problem with my theater, but the sound effect of people's footsteps was the LOUDEST sound in the damn movie. Is that a metaphor for something? Was it intentional?
I understand the cultural significance of taking your shoes off and wearing slippers in the home, but every single damn step they took was SO loud to me. Walking through the house, up and down stairs, inside, outside, it was just so jarring.
Otherwise, I dug it!
