A more faithful adaptations of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".
Blade Runner is a great movie don't get me wrong but it has always felt very different form DADOES to me. The omission of the Mercer/Empathy Boxes subplot, Buster Friendly, mood organ and the in depth look at the artificial animals and their value to gauge ones place in the social ladder all made it for a less than satisfying adaption for me personally.
Also nothing in BR comes close in terms of intensity to that great part in the book where Decker is arrested and taken to an off branch police station where one of the most thrilling mind#$%* takes place.
I enjoy BR very much as a standalone sci fi film but it missed far too much for my taste for it to be considered a great adaptation of PKD work.
I'm stuck between a rock and hard place with this entire matter. Because I know Halycon/WB still want to do something again with the material. I'd love for Ridley Scott to give us his own interpretation of a sequel to Blade Runner but I'd also love a more accurate adaptation of DADOES by another talented director. I know the chances of getting both is essentially none. So it would have to be one or the other.
