Syfy is looking to bring Booster Gold to life on the small screen.

The NBCUniversal cable network has ordered a pilot script for the one-hour drama based on the DC Comics franchise.

The project, which hails from Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television, will count Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters, No Ordinary Family, Green Lantern) as an executive producer. Fringe's Andrew Kreisberg, who collaborated with Berlanti on ABC's Eli Stone, is on board to pen the script and executive produce. DC Comics will also receive an EP credit.

The story will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.

The comic book character made an appearance in the 10th and final season of the CW's Smallville, where it gained still more fans.
Berlanti and Kreisberg, whose other credits include Warehouse 13 and Red Faction: Origins, are both repped by WME.

just read the news myself sounds good. Loved the smallville take they did in the last season. I wish the crew best of luck and hope it turns out good.

That's actually a great idea.....................but it's on Syfy so there goes my hope. :csad:

I'm not too keen about it being on Syfy...though I love what they did with Being Human so it might just work out.

eh...I mean, I love the idea. But the actualy presentation will probably be a let down and we may not recognize any of the characters by appearance.

I've never read those comics. What other superheroes does he often interact with? Besides Superman, apparently.

I hope it's good.

I hope it's good.

He's in Justice League International and his best buddy was Blue Beetle (Ted Kord, may he rest in peace) but he could exist without other heroes pretty easily.

The network gave me BSG. Despite their current line-up of drivel (besides Being Human), I must have faith.

It being scripted by a former Fringe writer certainly helps.

Syfy isn't that bad as long as it ends up on a good night aand paired with something good I don't see the problem.

Alphas and Warehouse 13. Could be kinda awesome sandwiched in between those.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I'll believe you when I see YOU!!!! :cmad:

Well, I think it stands a chance of lasting a lot longer on Syfy than it will on any of the networks.

Booster Gold could be first, then Warehouse 13,and then Alphas. It's basically up to Syfy on what the order will be.In any event,I'll watch Booster Gold.

Remember the Phantom tv show on Syfy? Yeah me either. :o They completely raped the character and I don't believe we've heard anything about it since. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong but hopefully Syfy surprises me, which I doubt. But I'd be lying if I said I won't watch it. Hopefully he'll have some interaction with other DC characters. I've often said Booster Gold and even a revamped Space Ghost would be a great tv show, only have Space Ghost of Syfy(with the writers of Farscape that it) and Booster Gold somewhere else.

A Booster Gold series could be great. Get McPartlin to play him

Did The Phantom even get picked up as a tv series? I remember a TV movie serving as a backdoor pilot. Syfy also had a Flash Gordon tv series with Smallville's Eric Johnson as the lead. Honestly, the only 2 tv series ever worth a damn on the Syfy channel was BSG and Being Human. Everything else....I don't care about. The problem is that I can't think any other cable channel that would pick up Booster Gold. I think its our only choice in the end.

Have Booster Gold on Syfy and Blue Beetle on Cartoon Network.

Im a big fan of Booster so Im partially excited....just use the guy from Smallville.....he's got the attitude down pat

That's what I'm thinking. It's not like the guy is an A list guy but he definetly has the character down and has the look. But I doubt they get him because there will always be the question of whether or not it takes place in the Smallville universe.
