2K Borderlands 4

Very keen to learn more about this but man, a Borderlands 4 teaser when we already knew it was coming really is just a big plate of nothin', hey?

True, but at least now there's a thread for it.

Awesome timing for them to release this now when everyone has Borderlands fever from seeing the very well-received, blockbuster movie. Who else is HYPED? :o

Yeah, they're definitely trying to make up for releasing that movie a few weeks ago. I imagine we'll get the full trailer in a few months or something.

Man I really love this franchise but I just don't have any faith in whatever comes out of Pitchford's mouth anymore. Hoping there are some more creative minds working on this one that the last game (or at least the creative minds there are given more room to explore and do something fun).

Honestly, with however much money they pour into this game, I hope they're spending at least 3 times on the writing alone. For the love of god, hire comedy writers.

Yeah, Borderlands 2 was definitely better, writing-wise.

Yeah, they really had that fun balance of funny characters/solid jokes (or more specifically, funny QUESTS and concepts) along with a story that actually packed a punch at times.

Borderlands 3 all the humour was just in like, goofy voices and WAY too much dialogue. And then the villains were so tedious but even in a fun, "self aware parody of influencers" type way. Like it was just the most obvious jokes that we've all seen a million times about youtubers, but with zero bite. And even though planets and characters were being blown up all over the place, the stakes somehow felt so much lower than BL2?

I'd love to see quality writing mixed in with the clever quest design of BL 2. Most of the quests in BL3 were actually fairly conventional, with just LOADS of quippy dialogue piped over the top. BL2 had stuff like Shooty McShootface, where an entire quest might just be a short, funny bit that makes you laugh. Also give us more funny choice based quests, where the outcomes are funny or engaging. Like I always loved that one in Sanctuary in BL2 where you had to resolve the criminal stand off haha

If only they could merge the writing of BL2 with the gameplay of BL3.

That's a positive start! Shows some self awareness about critiques on the writing in the last game, so that's something.

Because Randy Pitchford has always been honest and would never lie to sell a game...

That's true. Although, hopefully, the writing improves by a lot and we get a game closer to Borderlands 2 whenever the game is released.
