Bottom of the Barrel: What Were the Worst Movies of 2016?

Basically Razzies are chosen due to personal vendetta.

BvS may have been a pile of **** but Affleck being nominated for worst actor because of it is baffling.

Was Allied really bad? I haven't seen it.

It wasn't bad but it got a mixed response. I think its' on 55% on RT.

Well better than the DCEU offerings lol.

Looking at the nominations, I get a similar feeling. But I think they probably choose the nominations based on what's popular and what will keep people talking about The Razzies. There are an untold amount of truly poor films every year, but I'd be willing to bet the nominators don't even pay attention to those -The Razzies would quickly lose mainstream relevance if they focused on the straight-to-DVD offerings.

Boy, was 2016 the year of the divisive film or what? I feel like nearly more than half of the high profile releases last year were met with mixed to negative responses. Besides the obvious CBM suspects, The Accountant, Girl on the Train, Jason Bourne, Ghostbusters, Passengers, Assasins Creed, Allied, Jack Reacher, ID4 2, TMNT 2, Magnificent Seven...and there's others, I'm sure. But none of those films were really critical darlings.

I don't think straight-to-DVD films are even eligible. Most film awards require a theatrical release.

Here's my picks:

10. Assassin's Creed
9. The Brothers Grimsby
8. (tie) Ice Age Continental Drift and The Angry Birds Movie
7. Norm of the North
6. Fifty Shades of Black
5. (tie) Zoolander 2 and Bad Santa 2
4. Divergent Series: Allegiant
3. Alice Through the Looking-Glass
2. Huntsman: Winter's War
1. Ghostbuters (2016)

To everyone putting ID4R on their list, I just wanna know something: why EXACTLY did everyone hate this one? I'm not saying you're wrong for hating on it or that it was fantastic, I'm just wanna know in detail what the damn problem was instead of getting non-sequitur comments like "it was garbage" or "dumpster fire". All I'm seeing is people hating on it because it wasn't the first movie! And frankly, the GB reboot was FAR worse honestly! I put that as my #1 because EVERYONE involved in that movie's production deliberately went out of their way to piss off both the people who were preemptively hating on it AND everyone who wanted to give it a chance! THAT to me is a much bigger sin than a disappointing sequel to me!

P.S. Speaking of which, how come Ghostbusters isn't one of the poll options?

While I didn't HATE ID4R, I didn't like it and the reason being is it didn't have the likable, charming characters that the first one did so well. The cast was missing a charismatic lead and Liam Hemsworth just wasn't it.

Ok, that's fine. I can understand that no prob. Thanks!

EXCUSE ME?!?!? Let me be HONEST as to why I hated the movie: IT WASN'T ****ING FUNNY! The "all-female GB team" wasn't an issue with me AT ALL! Quite the contrary: I had NO problems with the concept when the movie was first announced and I was one of the few people defending the movie at first prior to the first trailer's release saying on social media "I'll wait until we get some footage first, THEN I'll judge"! Then the trailer came out, and guess what? It was really unfunny and really stupid (That first joke with the ghost vomiting ectoplasm really made my blood boil b/c it was Paul Feig missing the damn point as to why the first 2 movies were funny)! The full movie itself wasn't much better (in fact, the movie's constant "all men are bad" stance was disgusting to me both as a man AND as a guy who prefers equal rights to BOTH genders instead of one or the other)!

So, NO, James, I DON'T hate this movie b/c "hur durr I hate wumanz" you a-hole! Hell, I DON'T hate women, period, so how DARE you accuse me of something just because I hate ONE F-ING MOVIE!I hated it b/c it was BAD, nothing more! Nuff said!
Hover your mouse over the red smilie face at the end of his message, what does it read?

Wow, Mr. MOVIELORD, you really went off on poor James there.

I'm sorry. I was getting flashbacks of Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy saying "If you hate our movie then you hate women" online and on all those talk shows. Hell, McCarthy's comments about most of the haters being 40-something year old men living in their mothers' basements was really hurtful. As someone who's 25 years old and has his own apartment and pays monthly rent for it AND is a huge geek (hence my username, lol), I was quite frankly insulted. And honestly, I'm throwing her and her alone under the bus for that whole affair b/c, yeah Wiig and the other 2 weren't that good in the movie either but I think it was b/c they were being hampered. I had no problems with Wiig being in the movie at all. Really, I would've suggested her right away to being with; my other 3 picks would've been Jane Lynch, Sandra Bullock and Rosario Dawson!

But yeah, sorry I went off on James right there. I'm really terrible at picking up sarcasm at times. My bad, dude. Didn't know you weren't being serious.....:csad:
