Iron Man #10 - Tony is still on the run and Osborn goes on the offensive. Still wanted for questioning, Osborn (in full Iron Patriot suit), announces for Tony to give himself up in Central Park. All the while raiding and burning all of Starks offices all across the globe.
Meanwhile Tony and Maria Hill are hiding out in what appears to be a hidden bunker loaded with Iron Man suits and after they GET IT ON !!!!
, he disappears, leaving her instructions to blow it all up.
Pepper Potts finds herself in Tony's office wondering what to do and finds a secret room where Tony has left her something very special. The issue ends on a 'no turning back now' note and next issue shows War Machine vs Iron Man.
Still good stuff and still hoping Tony will can fix this mess and really stick it to Osborn.
War of Kings: Darkhawk #1 - Good set up. Chris battles one of the U-Foes and loses control of the suit, accidently striking Dr. Necker, and takes off to see the old Loners gang and cry in the arms of Mickey. I never read the Loners and don't know their story, but while walking back to Chris' Mom's house, another Darkhawk in blue crashes in from the heavens, and tells Chris he is not the only one. Another fireball come crashing in from the sky and apparently blows Mom's house, and Chris' family, to kingdom come.
They also give us a reprint of Darkhawk #1 from the 90's and it's a nice origin story that I skipped then. Definately lacking compared to todays standards, but much like Richard Rider and Peter Parker, Chris Powell was just a regular guy with regular problems, who is given a great gift.
We'll have to wait and see if War of Kings will elevate Darkhawk to Nova levels of cool, but I will definately be there to find out.
Also picked up The Mighty #1 from DC, and it was OK. There is only one Superman-like hero, Alpha One, who patrols the world with the aid of an entire organization, Alpha Sanction, to clean up after him and talk to the press. Alpha Sanction's commander in cheif is mysteriously killed and it's up to his younger next in line to take over. Nothing spectacular and I don't think I'll be coming back for #2.
I've read on the DC boards praising Tomasi as doing great things, but this just didn't do anything for me. It kinda reminded me of Hyperion in JMS Supreme Power, and I'd have rather read that.
And I finally got my hands of the Secret Invasion - War of Kings one shot and Black Bolt is all kinds of cool. I can't wait for the series and hope it lives up to the high standards of the Annihilation books.
Space Marvel is a great change of pace and scenery and those not reading it are really missing out on great books.
