Another year, and the number one question of course is if and when box office will recover this year after the pandemic-ridden 2020. Not likely to happen in the first quarter, though, and perhaps not until we're into the second half of the year. Hopefully. You never know if there are other nasty surprises lurking beyond the horizon. Still, movies that are scheduled to be released toward the end of the year surely will have a big advantage similar to the early releases of 2020 which weren't affected that much by the pandemic. Although China seems to kick off the new year in great fashion.

China Sets New Year’s Day Box Office Record, Ends 2020 At No. 1 Global – Deadline

My money’s on F&F 9.
If they release it during the summer, and vaccines have been widely distributed throughout the world, there is simply no stopping this franchise.

If Spider-Man 3 is indeed a multiverse verse movie, with Tobey and Andrew back, then not even FF9 will touch it.

Maybe.
It sounds like it could be overcrowded with characters.
Waiting for a trailer on that one.

Spider-man 3. With the old cast coming back this feels like it could be massive.

Definitely Spider-Man 3.

Old + new cast together can bring this Avengers-level of box office (in normal circumstances).

Highest grossing movies of the year:

1. Big Red Envelope $35 million
2. The Last Warrior: Root of Evil $32,3 million
3. Master $26,8 million
4. Wish Dragon $25 million
5. The Soul $17,1 million

Id be surprised if Spider-Man isn't moved to 2022. They already delayed Morbius to 2021, so I don't see how a bigger film that is still in production would be released in ten months given the world situation right now.

DC 3 have grossed $280 million after two days. Avengers: Endgame did around $267 million the first two days domestically

DC 3 made $67 million on Monday, but has fallen behind Hi, Mom which grossed $83 million yesterday

Highest grossing movies of the year:

1. Detective Chinatown 3 $515,1 million
2. Hi, Mom $335,3 million
3. A Writer's Odyssey $71,9 million
4. Boonie Bears: The Wild Life $55,8 million
5. Big Red Envelope $36,2 million

Highest grossing movies of the year:

1. Hi, Mom $663,9 million
2. Detective Chinatown 3 $637,3 million
3. A Writer's Odyssey $119,9 million
4. Boonie Bears: The Wild Life $80,5 million
5. New Gods: Nezha Reborn $53,3 million

Highest grossing movies of the year:

1. Hi, Mom $756,3 million
2. Detective Chinatown 3 $672 million
3. A Writer's Odyssey $141,2 million
4. Boonie Bears: The Wild Life $87 million
5. End Game $75,3 million

1. Godzilla v Kong
2. Venom 2
3. Spider Man 3
4. Morbius

You should also post Domestic box office numbers as none of those films even have a thread in this forum.

Personally I don't even know any of those films eXcept for Detective Chinatown 3 which is a sequel but I haven't even seen a clip of that.
