Lets talk about the Brand New Day series and what you think about it so far, what your favorit issues are, and what you hate. We can all post this here so send replies and maybe we can have a real fun time at it. My first most first problem is the webs itself. I cant tand the fact that HE HAS TO MAKE HIS OWN WEBS. ITS PATHETIC. Right after the Evolve or die series he got all new powers including stingers, see in the dark features, ect. Now because Mephisto erased MJs and Peters marriage, he newver dies and he never evolved. So thats my first problem but on top of tht its pretty good like MJ most likely being Jackpot (the new and registered superhero). Another thing. Dont you just hate the covers of issues 552 and 553. HE HAS A FOOTBALL HEAD. My favorite covers are 550 and 551. They look like thier coming out. The story line(s) are pretty good, no doubt about that, and everything seems to be working out. Thats about it and as soon as I get replies we can get a conversation.

The web-shooters and other gear dont bother me...as a fellow hype member, Donald Thomas pointed out many years ago, the web-shooters are a very unique weapon in the comic world. ANYONE could have been bitten by that radioactive spider, but very few would have had the know-how on how to make a functioning web-shooter...i think it ups Peter's "cool factor" quite a bit...

My two biggest gripes with BND is the fact that Mephisto succeeded in ruining Peter and MJ's marriage, in effect, defeating Spider-Man, and Harry Osborn's pointless return...

I love many of the new villains (yes, even The Freak) and supporting cast members...and the artwork and pacing are usually fantastic.

Im very excited about the upcoming Daredevil, Thunderbolts, and Venom stuff, as well as the return of writer Roger Stern.

You are exactly correct. Now that u put the web-shooter stuff that way, you're right. But I do hate taht he runs out of it soooo quickly. Now about the other villians. WHERE has Jackpot went to? She is most likely MJ. My most favorite villians are the Menace and that freaky dude in issues 546-548. Beside that, you're right. They are pretty cool and I am looking forward to alot!!

Webshooters show off Peter's intellect. and they add more dilemma to his situation...say if he were to run out of webs while fighting the juggernaut. I am glad to see there return.
(plus when you acknowledge that Spider's shoot webs out of basically there butt...lol.)

Freak has potential i think...but right now he's kinda laughable. at least I lol'd when I saw him say drruuuuuuuuggsss!!!

menace is pretty uninspiring. jackpot has peaked my interest however. and I liked paper doll as well. :)

yeh. my favorite super hero/villian is Jackpot (spidey doesnt count) and Menace. Menac has this sort of wickedly evil in him that sort of brings back the Green Goblin back

Check issue 551. They show a badass picture of Spidey about to knock out Menace

Umm...is this thread necessary? Don't we already have a thread for this stuff.

I dont think we have this thread. I dont know, but I couldnt find it. I just wanted to discuss the BND

My recent thoughts on OMD/BND...although it is a current thing...BND is kinda an old subject...lol...

I have not been a fan of "arcs" for quite along time before OMD and BND came along. I am not a fan of them in general at all for the entire comic medium, let alone this new system of "BND 3X: OMD Continues".

Some fans may be collecting certain arcs for the creative teams. It totally throws off the (decreasing) numbers either way.

The arcs create a break-up in the flow and increase errors or inconsistencies.

Worse yet, when re-reading them, like all those big X-men events collected in TPB that I own, it (the art changes) are more noticable in TPB form.

I know i talk alot about the good old days, but i really liked the good old days, when you had the twelve issues and an annual. Sure, sometimes you had some crappy spots in history where the comics weren't as good as other times, but overall you had the consistency in running themes, art, writing, plots, etc, because you had the same writer and artists working together with a shared direction/ideas.

Sure, it was brilliant to bring in big names for all these arcs to keep up sales while experimenting with devisive storylines and agendas....yet, i can't help feeling sad and wondering how good it would be right now, with just Slott, let's say, 1x a month, writing a normal spidey who is within continuity and not forced into the "single and dopey-dumb" box.

Spidey has a rich history and giant pool of supporting cast....now it is ignored and their minds all wiped cleaned by the devil. I cant' help but wonder how much higher the sales numbers would have been if we hadn't gone the Satan route, agenda route, and instead embraced Spidey's rich history and progressed the character instead of turning him into Petey Pan, that 70's hip guy, who never grew up.

All Joe gave us was poor excuses, such as his writers couldn't write a married spidey. However, a good writer who is worth his weight can write anyone, real or fake, black or white, bald or hairy, married or single. I am tired of hearing silly excuses. This is nothing that couldn't be done with a married spidey, and i dare say the sotries would be better too, if marriage were involved. Instead, we have reminders of devil dealing and winks and nods to whether or not MJ (who is in the bed of another man) still knows she is married or not. Doh!

We've got some great characters now, who many have grown up with, like me, who are ever to be associated with Satan now sadly. Pete and MJ=Satan. Aunt May is alive, due to Satan. Harry alive again=Satan. A mindwiped altered time/world = Satan. Doh! Does the average fan WANT to associate the devil and these guys? Sheesh. I doubt it.
I am glad some can forget or shrug it off, but it's honestly annoying to say the least. However, the whole concept here and world now is based off of Satan and the changes he made while dealing with the married couple and making Aunt May LIVE AGAIN!! (lightning crackles!!)

Amazing is really an Ultimate Spidey comic now, except the original Ultimate Spidey is really much better done than this new alternate ultimate one. :csad:

Lastly, I might add, that I wonder if Joe went with the cheesy devil route because he was so unsure of his controversial approach here that he went with a route that leaves the door, WIDEST OPEN for a way out. Everyone knows the devil's deals always backfire at some point. However, this is meant to be a big change, so IF it does stick, we've got a whole new world created by the devil, which isn't too appealing, so the ROUTE here is heavily FLAWED EITHER WAY.

Yeah. your right. they should just have let Aunt May die. Yes she is very important and everything thing, but honestly. How long more can she live? So far though, the stories are OK. There not something to ma amazed of or soething. They're just ok. Now about the artists. WHERE is Sratynszki. I cant pronounce his name. But Slott is pretty good. His art was good on BND on issues 546 (first and second printing), 547, and 548. BUT Gale really F@$%&d on issues 553 and 552. He was the worst artist of them all but later on he shows way better improvement like the cover of issue 563.
