One thing I think people are having trouble following is separating official white house statements on what unfolded which have been generally vague but getting more specific as further briefings are conducted, and third party accounts based on what they heard from someone else or what they're assuming from pictures they're getting and attributing it to "official" accounts in order to get their article at the top of google news etc.

i think we'll eventually get the pics because we are whining so much about it

When was the last time Obama listened to the people?

The thing is, the White House Official statements are contradictory as well....

What Carney says is different from what Penetta says is different from what Clinton says....

Are they trying to make this like the Obamacare legislation....make it so confusing that NO ONE knows what happened for sure, and hopefully forgets about it....?

Assange is gonna pop-up with the pics and **** everything up.

Probably. I could not care less what he looks like. Heck, I don't think I really cared if he's really not dead, they took him alive and have him locked in some dungeon somewhere miles underground. He's out of the picture, and that's all matters.

I like the idea of him meeting Allah....

I don't think its going to matter, because I think they are going to be leaked very soon....

Yeah, I don't think that they can keep it covered up.

The backtrack story on the telegraphed was from accounts by Leon Panetta.

WASHINGTON: CIA Director Leon Panetta has said that US President Barack Obama did not see Osama bin Laden getting gunned down, but came to know that he was killed only after a team used the code "Geronimo," signifying his capture.

It was reported yesterday that Obama along with his high-level team had watched live coverage in the White House, as the commandos shot the world's most wanted terrorist, via a video camera fixed to the helmet of a U.S. Navy Seal.

Panetta, however, stressed that officials in the Situation Room "didn't know just exactly what was going on" on Sunday for 20 to 25 minutes when the team entered bin Laden's Pakistani compound, Politico reports.

"There were some very tense moments. But finally, Admiral William McRaven came back and said he had picked up the word 'Geronimo," he said.

Panetta also said Pakistani officials were not informed about the mission because the Obama administration feared that they could jeopardize the mission."

Earlier, Obama's counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan had claimed that Osama and others assembled in the White House to watch the live video of the combat operation that killed bin-Laden, had experienced 'one of the most anxiety-filled periods' of their lives.

I will try to see if there is a transcript.

If the White House doesn't want to release the graphic photos of Osama dead, then they should put up a coroner's report or something to placate the conspiracy theories.

Or release them with the gore pixelated...

Can't you read? I said all governments. Are you suggesting I have a general bias against governments? I know I am not an anarchist so I know that to be untrue. How could I simultaneously be biased against every country in the world. Who would I be biased in favour of?

Don't you feel a bit embarrassed when you see some of your old posts?

Don't you feel like an ass when you read yours?

Hey, well modded, mod! Blunder into a discussion you don't understand, then start name calling.

Pitiful.

You asked me a question....I asked you a question.

Oh, and no modding going on, just replying to your post in kind....usually when I mod directly on a thread....it is in bold.

Can't you read?
He asked you if you felt Embarrassed, You responded by asking if he felt like an ASS, Not the same thing and you know it Kel.:whatever:

If the DNA results weren't enough, I don't see how a coroner's report would placate them any better.

Oh what's the point. There will still be naysayers pics or no pics. Take 9/11 for example. Can't we all just move along and focus on getting rid of Gadafhi?

Naysayers will always be around with this type of thing.....

We don't need you butting into a situation that's been dealt with, thanks. :)

This seems like its starting to take a dark turn for Obama. Yesterday he was a hero, but its looking more and more like he's going to end up making a fool of himself.

First I wish to state that from the start I was with Bush when he went into Afghanistan, It's when he went into Iraq is when I had problems with his war policy.

That being said, I am so sick of these people who keep saying that Bush deserves some if not all credit for what happend this weekend. I'm sorry but the moment Bush stood in front of the cameras and said he wasn't worried about Osama anymore, Less than two years after 9/11, He lost all rights to get any credit for getting Osama.

I dont see how this is a backtrack...its more of a clarification. I can imagine watching a firefight from a helmet cam would be very chaotic and hard to know whats going on

I will go with what Panetta says above what most others are saying....

And noticably absent from all of this discussion is Biden....lol

I dont understand people begging for Bush credit...im pretty sure Obama gave him credit during his speech
Bush doesnt want more credit...if he did he'd be at Ground Zero tomorrow
Bush just wants to be left alone

I think there are more people looking to deny Bush credit than there are asking to give it to him.

Bush has no interest in being politically active at the moment. He has done a lot of good charity work since his presidency and I believe that he will have a strong post-presidency, but politically, I think that he is done. People should respect his wishes and leave him alone.
