The computer generated images keep going through my mind....

They have to shoot through a brick wall that was made to look like a doorway to get to his room so you know damn good and well he knew they were coming.....when they get to his room, Kids come running out FIRST....then 2 women....and then Bin Laden....WHAT A PIECE OF CHICKEN ****....
The very fact that Bin Laden would know I was coming through the door would be enough justification for me to come in shooting to kill immediately, for the safety of myself and my fellow soldiers. Anybody here that thinks they'd feel differently in that situation, I have a feeling is full of ****.

No, going into a sovereign country in a military manner will get them into trouble....how much remains to be seen.....but it will be brought up.

I think they'll state that they were acting on time sensitive intelligence and didn't want to take the chance of alerting the Pakistani government and possibly letting UBL escape again.

At this point Pakistan seems very defensive regarding this operation, they're throwing the blame around without getting offended that we launched a military mission right under their noses. Kinda fishy to me. They seem ashamed right now and who knows what will happen.

Yeah I think the recent reports of a possible capture and execution would be the biggest blow here, not just in terms of playing within the rules, but also in terms of reason for retaliation since it makes it look like we not only wanted him dead, but wanted him to die in a worse way with him being completely defenseless.

I really have no idea what the regulations are and whats necessarily "legal" in these situations, but being executed, and having order to kill on sight certainly carry different weights with me.

The fact that none of those children were killed just shows the amazing skill these guys had...

I must say, I'm finding all of this stuff pretty fascinating and I'm starting to wonder why I've always avoided politics .

Credibility around the world? Who gives a crap? The rest of the world can whine as much as they want, but at the end of the day the U.S. is the only power that is willing to put our money where our mouth is on some pretty serious security issues for the entire world. China has built their economy on the back of slave labor in their own country and trading with the likes of Iran. China might be an economic superpower, but they are morally bankrupt and they will never stand up and say "enough is enough" against evil regimes. Do we really give a crap what the likes of France think when we had to rescue them from Hitler?

LMAO....your Texan is showing...

Nothing gets on my nerves more than people that think it's forbidden to talk politics with friends, or at dinner, or at restaurants, or at bars, etc. Politics are important, and should be openly discussed. It shouldn't be taboo, as many americans like to make it.

I'm really curious what will amount of the story that Bin Laden's 12 year old daughter told stating she saw the soldiers carry her father away and execute him.

Well, unfortunately in politics, some of it can get very petty.......the partisan crap gets old. The difference in this and other political issues is that there really isn't a lot of partisanship in this....

Some Republicans/Democrats want the pic shown, some Republicans/Democrats don't want it shown...

Just as an example...

I was just watching something on CNN where they were discussing the same thing and they were talking about the difference between killing him in the midst of the firefight, and then killing him while he's asleep or waving a white flag. In those cases, it wouldn't really be legal to kill him.

Yup. Just hearing about all of the kind of training that the SEALS had to go through just to be considered shows that these were most likely the best of the best of our troops.

Yeah, I haven't seen that from any credible sources as of yet. If there are some though, somebody link it up.

I'm thinking mama might have had alittle to do with that...

Just some interesting facts about these Seals...

The last characteristic of someone who is what they want in this elite military unit...(Team 6) is

* Family Man

Pretty interesting uh?

I've always avoided mostly out of my own ignorance. I never followed the news or read newspapers so I never really knew what was going on in anything.

I was joking with one of my friends in class yesterday though because one of my art professors tends to get into discussions with whoever will listen to him in class, so while we're trying to paint stuff, we end up getting a history lesson, or a lesson in politics or philosophy. :hehe:

While I highly doubt that's what happened, the reality is that there really isn't a such thing as "legal" when it comes to international matters. Sure, there's the court of international opinion, and there are "rules" that like-minded states have put up and declared, but there's no higher authority. Every state has their own sovereignty, and if they really want to do something, the rule becomes meaningless. They're only rules in that MOST of the time it's very valuable for a state's self interest to abide by them, until the time comes that the pros for a particular action outweight the con of making the other states mad. Then suddenly it's not really a rule.

Osama himself said he would not be taken alive....he called it.

Yes, a mother can get her child to lie. I've seen it with my own eyes. I wouldn't be supriised if it turned out that's what happened here.

Yeah, I remember hearing some former SEAL give an interview on CNN where he said that the hardest part was trying to have a family since you can literally be called for duty at any time of the day, and you would have to leave your family for long months with no contact and stuff.

That's why I have nothing but respect for anyone in the armed forces, because its really a tough job on all levels (physically, emotionally, and psychological), not to mention you're always putting your life on the line. I know I'm not strong enough to do that, but I commend those who are.

That's Bull****

I believe someone posted a video from Fox a few pages back in which they were readdressing the allegations made by the daughter.

Possibly, but this whole situation just wreaks of a cover up though.

That's why it's especially annoying to hear people question their judgement in a life or death situation like taking on the worlds most notorious mass murderer and terrorist. The idea that they should have done more to take him alive is ridiculous.

I'm not questioning the heroism of Team 6... they have their orders as to what situation requires a kill in a scenario.

I've also got little doubt that for political reasons they would have preferred OBL to have not been leaving the complex alive.
