Saw this interview today with Brett Ratner.

He's not a huge fan of the comic book community, to say the least. Says he "saved the franchise." Sheesh! Also says he never read the comic books and the old cartoons were "the same *****ing thing." Interesting.

Also like this quote "I'm kind of the Anti-Christ to these comic book geeks. Every single person that wrote **** went to see that movie multiple times."

Saw the movie once and don't own it, Brett. You helped to ruin the franchise. Thanks.

Saw the movie once and also didn't buy it on dvd. Saw X2 multiple times and have bought the dvd and bluray. Ha to you Hackner.

Another appropriate time to use this baby:

I saw it once and HATED it and never saw it again. Even when it was on hbo and fx. And can he be anymore of a *****e? He is basically engaging in self praising...thats pretty pathetic. "Mine made the most narrative sense....I made way more than the other two...they made wolverine after mines...blah blah!"

If I had to live my life being Brett Ratner I'd scramble and clutch at bulls### reasons to justify my own existence too...

He ruined a franchise with a lot of potential which was finding its feet by the time X2 came around. He killed it off (albeit not all by himself) in one quick stroke.

I have to admit, although I partially agree with what most of you have said, I have to fully agree with Bryan Singer's advice to him.

Saw the movie once, don't own the DVD. I do own the DVDs for X-Men 1.5 and X-Men 2.

Cheers.

Brett is the man :p[BLACKOUT] kiddin':woot:[/BLACKOUT]

He made a whole documentary to glorify himself. Uh OK, yup.

Saw X3 in theatre once (I was going to give it a pass, but my wife surprisingly wanted to see it, so we did), and it didn't defy my low expectation at all; it was as disappointing as I thought it would be. Ratner is such an ego trip that he thinks he "saved" the X-Men franchise. I hope Marvel won't let any more of their franchises being "saved" by Ratner in the future.

Who the hell does he think he is? Christopher Nolan?

Ratner reads the crap online and we probably got under his skin during the making of X-3. Now he's trying to return the favor. Pay him no mind. He probably won't be touching comic book movies again for any studio other than Fox, and even that is a stretch IMO.

Ratner if you've listened to his commentary has a very high opinion of himself. And that's not necessarily bad. Its good to have confidence, but IMHO, it feels like he takes it a little too far and he has a huge ego about it.

Like on the Rush Hour 3 commentary he talks about over and over THIS MOVIE IS A VERY REAL SPY/POLITICAL THRILLER. He was talking about Rush Hour 3 like it was The Bourne Ultimatum, amazing. It almost seems like he is overcompensating.

Next thing you know, Ratner is going to proclaim that he's a better director then Nolan.

I saw it on TV once & another time at a friend's house where we turned it off half way. He didn't save jack**** & I definitely didn't watch it multiple times. I actually fell asleep half way through on my first time, but woke up intime to see the boring final battle.

X-Men Origins>>>>>>>>>>>>>>A pile of fresh horse crap>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>X3

Ratner is pitiful even to the average movie goer. He pretends its only comic book fans who despise him but everyone considers him a joke.

This clown is just a *****ebag. I'd give a **** less if he was covered with gasoline and caught fire.

I hate to break it to you Ratty, but your film..........well it kinda sucked.

The franchise never needed saving. Especially since X2 is the most liked. I don't care if X3 made the most money it's the most panned on this board. There were way too many characters in X3 and they did not develop them all because there was too much damn action.(I'm all for action but you've also gotta develop your characters) in the end it felt like it was too much but not enough at the same time. They took an up and coming actor, Ben Foster and did absolutely nothing with his character. He only had like three scenes. Don't even get me started on them killing Cyclops. Possibly the biggest WTF moment of 2006. They could've worked around Marsden since he was doing Superman Returns. But they didn't have to kill off Cyclops.

Ratner can talk all day about the money X3 made but at the end the quality of the movie is what really counts.

Hahaha!

Nolan's vest, just his vest, could make a better comic film than Ratner ever could.:woot:

All 3 films sucked...the only difference between Singer's and Ratner's is that Singer's were met with a bunch of undeserved appraisal and sucked...Ratner's was meant with a bunch of well deserved didsain and sucked.

Regardless of how you feel about someone as a filmmaker or even a person, that's ridiculous to say the least.

The only thing that would suck about Singer's films is if you're a typical fanboy who wanted everything just like the comics. Being a huge X-men fan myself, I was in fact disappointed with some of the changes he made in the first two films but they were still good 'comic films', especially X-2. Not to mention I think a lot of fans that never liked Singer's films to begin with, might have had a different opinion about them if he was allowed to make the films he wanted since he was held back budget wise from Rothman who never had faith in the X-men actually becoming popular with the mainstream.

I know someone who hated Singer's films because they didn't have their comic costumes. Come on. Wolverine in yellow spandex? It works for the comics and cartoons, but not the movies. Hugh Jackman would have looked silly.
