Just watched this again, amazing film I think...

I then Brendan may be one of my favorite movie characters ever

The first time I watched it was in this (somewhat smelly) indie movie house. The sound was muffled and it was incredibly hard to make out what anyone said.

I was excited to go see it, but with the bad sound and just confusing elements, I left really unsure of it and what I just saw. I, and this is quite common with me, had the feeling that there could've been more to it that really would've escalated the experience, but there wasn't. The story (that everyone was dieing to figure out) was such a jagged step to conclusion, that I just still didn't figure out what the heck happened. It's such a wierd movie, and I'm entirely not sure of whether or not I liked it.

Interestingly, even you don't know with that "I think..." haha... it just does that!

Hehe, yeah its weird and hard to figure out

Is it out in stores yet? I really want to see it but of course it was only show in select cities.

I think September

Should be August. My video store's supposed to get our copies of Brick shipped in tomorrow.

I haven't seen it yet. I want to see Meagan Good.

Dug this thread up to see if it could be discussed again. My buddy and I rewatched it for out podcast since we just did a Last Jedi episode, and Rian Johnson first landed on anyone's map with this baby. https://www.buzzsprout.com/132209/625383-cinema-emersion-tank-brick.

So, anyone else love the whole high school noir thing this film goes with? I mean, the script and cinematography are all shockingly good for a film made so economically.

I think it's a masterpiece. I can't think of a way this movie could've been better than it is.

In our podcast, we actually talked about how the film's both absurdly economical for the awesome it has (demonstrating how Johnson had the skills for managing a budget effectively) and manages to be very referential and channel an old school noir film without going near parody.

Also, on our rewatch, I noticed that Brendan only breaks down around Laura when the scenario he's built up around his involvement still makes sense and Emily's death is common knowledge among the gang.
