Bridge in Minnesota in the River, the whole damn bridge.

:( That's just wow. :(

Just saw this on TV and I thought it was another bad earthquake in California.

Let's pray for survivors.:csad:

All the local news in Minneapolis is reporting right now is one confirmed death, but the concrete has fallen on to a train as well.

Any ideas on what could have caused this?

There has been massive construction on I-35 all summer, in addition to a massive heat wave.

My guess is a faulty job on the bridge, combined with that heat and rush hour traffic in Minneapolis lead to this.

Wow, just wow. This is awful.

It was only 1 confirmed, now they are confirming three.

It's only going to get worse. And on top of it I can't get a hold of my sister who attends school down there.

Hope she's okay Guy.

*They're working on a birdge I cross every day, big ass one. [/paranoid]

I hope she's ok GG.....

That's crazy....I can't believe the incompetence if it was due to the construction.....

It's a 40 year old bridge that was getting reconstructed very slowly, and it badly needed repair. There's so many things that could've been faulty with the retooling of the bridge.

And thank you those of you with your kind words.

i doubt it's due to construction... theres waaay too many steps for something like that to go through, and way too many inspectors to sign off on it, and scheduled inspections, etc, etc... for it to just "go bad and collapse"

it's got to be something else.

maybe that came out wrong, but he said lawsuits, and i'm sorry, but that's stupid... that's like suing the city because you got whiplash driving over a pothole.

like it or not, you were the one driving.

now, if there weren't proper signs in place on the bridge, whatever those happen to be, then maybe a lawsuit is in order... but i still highly doubt it.
