Surprised there isn’t already a thread for this but I’m slowing catching up now and I am absolutely adoring every second of it. It shouldn’t work but wow it really does. The costuming and music are beyond compare and being treated to Julie andrews as a narrator is a delight. Can’t wait for more.

who’s your favourite character? What do you think will happen next?

I really wanted to like Bridgerton. I love Austen-like period stuff, Pheobe Dynevor is a dream doing her best Keira Knightley impression, I love the music, and it definitely doesn't feel cheap. But there is something about it that just turns me off. I still haven't done the last 2 episodes, though I will try and hope for more in the second season. The apparent structure of the show also isn't giving me much hope. I want to kick it with the few characters I do rather enjoy, but it sounds like they will be changing a lot of them up.

My favorite characters would be Daphne and Eloise. The two that really got some investment out of me.

It took me a while to get into this show but it hooked me somewhere in the middle. I’m not sure I’m going to be interested in future seasons however because as I understand it, Simon and Daphne don’t return? They were probably my favorite parts of the first season (along with Eloise) and so I’m not sure the show will work without them.

I mildly enjoyed it the first time and by the end I was hooked.

oh it’s a shame you couldn’t get into it. It’s a little bit racier I suppose than the average costume drama but the show runner is American and they’re all about that with their shows. I’m still enjoying it especially the duke’s aunt

I watched the first fifteen minutes of the first episode last week. A guilty pleasure of mine is Regency romances and I'm loving Julia Quinn's books. Well, most of them anyway. But, after the second man-butt appeared within the first quarter hour and feeling a little bored, I bailed.

But then... I did the same thing with the CW Nancy Drew and ended up going back to it and liking it enough to watch the first two season, twice. Each. Si I pulled up Bridgerton again, and I'm glad I did. (Thankfully, there was no more man-butt until late in the season...Personally, in things like this, I don't think any real nudity is required, but that's me.)
Anyway, I ended up really liking it. I actually wish there was more scene with Simon, played by Rene-Jean Page. He and Phoebe Dynevor were great together in any scene they were in. Some of the sub-plots I think could have been shelved, but they did have a number of interesting turns.

Favorite characters were Daphne, of course, and her sister Eloise.

I'll be looking forward to season two, though understanding that, like the books, the main characters will change to suit the new story line. For that I'll be missing seeing less of Daphne, and esp since Page will not be returning as Simon, and the 2nd will probably be Dynevor's last season. But, this will give room for the others to shine, esp as seasons 3 and 4 are in the early works.

I really hope we see more of Eloise and her come-out, as it would be sure to be trying and hilarious!

Not really the kind of thing I would usually watch but enjoyed the first episode.

Haven’t seen any of Bridgerton but this was a cute clip. Almost makes me want to check this out. From what I’ve heard of the first season’s storyline, I don’t think I’ll enjoy that but Anthony and Kate’s romance in season 2 sounds it like should be enjoyable to watch. Also season 3 is focusing on Nicola Coughlan and she’s usually fun to watch.
