Jason Fuchs, who is behind Warner Bros’ upcoming Pan movie, is on his way to Paradise Island via invisible jet.

The scribe is in negotiations to write the screenplay for Wonder Woman, one of the most important installments of Warners’ cinematic universe based on the DC Entertainment characters and one of the most iconic characters in comic book history. Warners had no comment.
Michelle MacLaren, the director behind some of the top episodes of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, is developing the project as its director while Gal Gadot is attached as the heroine, the Amazonian warrior princess known as Diana Prince. The movie has a 2017 release date.

Fuchs will work with MacLaren on the drafts.
Fuchs, repped by WME and Brookside Artists Management, is already ensconced with the studio with Pan, the re-imagining of the Peter Pan story that it hopes will launch a franchise when it is released July 17, 2017. The scribe, who also counts Ice Age: Continental Drift among his credits, is also working on the Pan sequel.

Well now that a thread is up I might as well post this here.

That's an interesting choice for a couple of reasons. For starters he doesn't have a lot of credit to his name, so Pan and Wonder Woman will really be our first glimpse of him and what he can do. What also strikes me is the fact that he's 28. It's always unique and encouraging to see young prospects given a chance to break through. Now not only do I want this to be good for the shake of being good (obviously), but I want to see more young talent flourish and this is his opportunity.

I have no words for this one since he's right out of the box. Pan will be the litmus test.

Interesting. I remember THR's article saying that McLaren is working with writers, plural, so I'm wondering if we have another Tarzan/Aquaman situation where Fuchs is writing one draft and another writer is doing another.

I'm on a wait-and-see case on this one. The good news is that they're making progress. #InMacLarenITrust

I doubt he'll be the sole credited writer when all's said and done, but good for him. I was already looking forward to Pan because of the various cast/crew involved, so this just adds one more reason to the list.

I'm guessing MacLaren had to approve this choice. And everything she's done is golden so I'm cool with this writer until proven otherwise.

Also, I bet he knocked it out of the park with Pan and that got him on the WW radar.

Since they're building a verse I've wondered if it might be good to hire a team of writers like the Avatar team...brainstorming the overall plots to each DC film and creating cohesiveness to the verse, with no writer knowing which film they're gonna write until the end.

Oh yeah, besides the multiple writers, I'm totally expecting this to go through at least one re-write as well.

Exactly my thought. Although, to play the devil's advocate, IIRC the writer of Transcendence (also a Black List script) got multiple gigs too and we know how that film turned out. But maybe the script wasn't the problem plus Wright >>>>> Pfister.

regardless of how people will react to Pan I think he can still do at least good script. plus Michelle MacLaren is involved and other writers so no worries for me.

Agreed. Even if Pan sucks I'm not going to be worried.

Interesting surname... and terrible tie. Never heard of the guy before though, I'm off to check his body of work.

By the way, he would make a great Hal Jordan. :p

Agreed, but wow, I didn't realize Transcendence was a Black List script. Yikes, lol.

Neither does terrio, nothing to get worked up about

I'm not getting worked up about it, I am simply disappointed that I can't do what I intended to do - get movies he made as references for what to expect of him as a writer.

That tie is awful! It's going to ruin Wonder Woman! All hope for the Amazing Amazon is now lost!

Actually, with no credits to his name, I can't form an opinion at all. He could be a recently discovered masterful script writer or he could simply be a serviceable and malleable script writer who jumps however high and through whatever hoops WB tells him to. Either way, he's apparently working WITH the director, so I'm sure she'll steer him in the right direction.

They must see something in him or else he wouldn't have been brought on. This film is important. Nearly all eyes will be on it.

Yes. It's by far the most important film on the slate so I hope he does a good job with the character.

Well, he has a tough task ahead, he will have to write better draft than Whedon did when he was writing WW.

Can anyone point me to Whedon's WW script (assuming it's now public domain)?

If I can't read it myself, can anyone who has tell me if it was submitted prior to the New 52 reboot that it appears this film will follow?

I know it's comic book sacrilege to favour the New 52 re-imaginings, but I think Azzarello's version of WW (along with her cast of characters) will make this more modern (and also literally classical) take on the character more appealing to a general audience.

If Whedon's script tried to use the original WW mythology it might not have worked as well for a film adaptation (or at least one that would mesh well with the rest of the DC universe).

I don't know if we are allowed to post leaked screenplays. Still, you can easily find it even with limited Google-fu. :cwink:

It can be found on reddit.
