The Dark Knight Rises Bringing in more supporting cast

I know you're just trying really hard to be clever, but...

Gary Oldman plays Commissioner Gordon. Liam Neeson played Ra's Al Ghul, and probably had around 15 minutes screentime. Ken Watanabe probably had a little more than 5 minutes on the screen. I don't see why a talented leading actress wouldn't consider a supporting role in the next film.

Actually, Cate Blanchette did the same type of thing in LOTR, so its really not much of a stretch. If the actress really wants to be involved in the next Nolan bat-flick, she'll take the gig.
 Oldman and Neeson played major characters. You cant compare Ken Watanabe to Blanchett and Foster. You are suggesting 2 of the greatest actresses of all time for a very minor character. Try to think a little realistic. They can both do so much better anyway.

Look genius, I think you need to practice some reading comprehension. As I clearly stated earlier, Oldman and Neeson both played "supporting" roles, both of which were pretty minor in BB if you're considering screentime. Ra's and Gordon may be "major characters" (your words, not mine) but they didn't have major screentime.

And again, Blanchette did just that in LOTR. She played a minor role. If an actor or actress want to work with Nolan and be part of the next Bat-flick, they'll take supporting roles.

Also, I said in my first post that I wasn't sure who should play Essen, and that I would like to see Foster or Blanchette in the roles. I never said they'd be cast by Nolan, so you need to find someone else to annoy. My god, its like you didn't even read my posts. Read. Stop. Think. Type. You are arguing over something not worth arguing about.

And Daniel Day-Lewis played a very small part in Gandhi.

They did too have alot of screentime. But if you want Essen to be a major character in B3, then ok.

In addition of Bullock, Montoya, and Essen, I'd like to see Stan Merkel, Branden, and Crispus Allen.

Jeremiah Arkham. Summer Gleeson. Vicki Vale. Arnold Wesker.

Maybe Jonathan Crane but definitely Clark Kent on a rooftop in full costume.:oldrazz:

I wanna see more of Scarecrow, i didn't like him used for 2 minute cameo. :down

Yeah....Wuertz and Stephens are getting confused. Stephens is the cop in the cell with joker "want my phone call". Wuertz is the dirty cop working for Maroni.

I honestly don't mind the names that much. I mean, yeah, you can't call Bruce Wayne - Eric Radomski. That's going too far. But with these smaller roles, I don't mind it much. I actually prefer it. Simply because for us, they're unpredictable characters. We know what Bullock is allowed and not allowed to do in terms of his character and the mythos. However, Stephens, is a wild card. He can act in ways we would not expect, or more importantly, can't complain about afterwards.

I enjoy the supporting characters in the Nolan movies that are not real comic-book characters: Detective Stephens, the Chechen, Wuertz, Ramirez; even Flass, who was a comic-book character was a much different character than he was in the comics, and I enjoyed the actor that played him.

I like to see Harvey Bullock in third movie.

Mark Boone Junior played Det. Flass.

no i wana keep Detective Stephens and build on that character, i think he had a significant running in with the Joker as well as being Gordans only trustworthy right hand man. its a great minor character i would love to be progressed into the next film. i would also like other minor chracters like mike engel in the next. Ramirez not so much.

I want Leslie Thompkins (Vanessa Redgrave), Harvey Bullock (Brendan Gleeson) and Janice Porter (Courtney Cox).

I've always been partial to the idea of James Gandolfini playing Bullock....or even Forest Whittaker. After all, it's not like race is important to Bullock's character.

My suggestions:

Leonor Varela as the Det. Renee Montoya

Keri Russell as the Det. Sarah Essen-Gordon

John Goodman as the Det. Harvey Bullock

Common as the Det. Crispus Allen

The Terrible Trio

Bye

Mickey Rourke would give the character of Bullock new justice and a cool new spin.

In the next film, I'd like to see them bring in more people from the comics... most notably Detective Harvey Bullock.... and I finally figured out who would be perfect for the role....

Vince Vaughn

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

no

I don't see why. Neither Stephens nor Wuertz were anything like Bullock. If that was Nolan's intention, then he failed immensely.

I'd say Stephens was pretty similar to Bullock. Rough, hard boiled cop who is on of the only ones who is completely loyal to Gordon. The only thing that doesn't make him like Bullock is that he seemed indifferent to Batman, rather than hating him.

I agree with Trooper. Keep Stephens, he was a good character. They can give him more Bullock like qualities in the next one, seeing as from his POV Batman is a cop killer.

I'm baffled as to why he wasn't just already "Bullock". What is the point of that? It's not like "Stephens" is an orginal name.

That's amazing. I made that post 4 months ago, which incidentally coincides as a response to what you said in the Ramirez thread a few days ago, but I just never felt like typing it. :funny:

Anyway, we didn't see nearly enough of Stephens to consider him Bullock. The traits you've mentioned are so sparingly depicted it minds as well be a caricature for the "tough cop". Bullock has a specific look as well as a specific personality. None of which I saw remotely in the Stephens character.

Wouldn't mind Dick Grayson in a non-Robin role.

Catwoman could potentially be a supporting cast member, though I prefer her as a villain.

Bruce Wayne (as in the one the public sees) getting more of a staff wouldn't be bad either.

as long as it's a good story, bring on as many characters as you need. Let's just keep any sign of another "Batman & Robin" far far away.

More of a villain than a supporting character, but I'd like to see Rupert Thorne.
