Musical Broadway musical hit 'Wicked' to the big screen

Zoe serving up camel toe on a table, though.
I didn't even notice but that tracks because 2024 was such a horny year for movies. Even something like Wicked even though it was watered down from more adult source material. Looking at you, Fiyero. :o

Dancing Through Life has so much bi energy. Doesn't help it seems like Fiyero is flirting with all the other students.

10 nominations! I am bummed Chu didn't get Best Director, but thrilled and surprised about best Score.
I’m happy too, but I’m annoyed that Hans Zimmer’s Dune 2 score was disqualified for using themes from his Dune score when this one entirely uses themes from a pre-existing musical.

Anyway, well deserved nominations all…except VFX. At least it’s not cinematography. :oldrazz: Would love to see it win in the sound and production design categories, as it genuinely should win those imo. Cynthia has basically no shot, but while it probably won’t happen, I’d love to see Ariana pull an upset over Zoe. Not only does she deserve it more, but the Emilia Perez domination needs to be stopped. :weeping:

Wasn't there a rule that omitted musicals from Best Song and Score because the Scores usually incorporated music from the songs? I remember this is why Alan Menken couldn't get the nom for Tangled.

I’m not familiar with that rule but I know musicals get Best Original Song nods all the time. 🤷‍♀️

Oh I meant to say they can't get nominated for both. Sorry.
Ah yes, that makes more sense. Still not sure that’s the case though because I’m pretty sure La La Land got nominated for both. And might have won both too.

Was La La Land adapted or original? Maybe that only applies for adapted ones? I am just spitballing

Enough of Powell's score is original to qualify it. A perfect example is his "All Around Defying Gravity"
