Musical Broadway musical hit 'Wicked' to the big screen

It also seems like they learned their lesson from the marketing for the last movie and they’re actually showcasing the songs this time around.
They showcased both "Popular" and "Defying Gravity" in the trailer to the first one, just like they're using "No Good Deed" and "For Good" here? And the marketing resulted in a smash hit out of the gate, so I'm not sure there was a lesson to learn there. As overbearing as the press tour felt, the results were undeniable.

I think maybe the difference in perception is coming from our greater trust in the creative team this time around. I can only speak for myself but I wasn't wowed by the trailer for Part 1 in large part because I found a lot of the choices questionable from the outset, so they really had a lot of convincing to do. It was an uphill battle to get my approval for sure. This time, no convincing needed. I am seated Day One. :funny:

This will hopefully be as magical as Part 1, I'm very confident it will be.

Thank Goodness is gonna kill me. That's my favorite song in the show other than the big showstoppers. I think i saw the dress in the trailer! :sadcat:
i'm dying to find out if ariana uses the voice break for "isn't it?"

Ugh that's a nice trailer. That is a nice nice trailer. For Good sounds fantastic. The costumes and sets, sensational. I think also being armed now with the knowledge of how good Cynthia and Ariana's chemistry is really packs weight for the emotional scenes in the trailer. The "and I've had so many friends . . . but only one that mattered" line, gawdamnit makes me want to sob. Ugh. Hope this film delivers.

Been going through some of the original 2003 Broadway recordings. If the small snippets we heard in the trailer are any indication, holy s**t I can’t wait to hear and see Cynthia absolutely crush “No Good Deed”.

"Thank Goodness" is severely underrated! My favorite from Act 2 for sure. Can't wait to hear Ariana's rendition.

listening to the cast recording they cut so much of the dialogue in between the song, during etc, so the whole gravity of the situation, as well as its snippets of comedy will be even more impactful. "there are bridges you didn't know you crossed until you crossed" is gonna be soooo good. i just have a feeling

along with her trying to smile and put on a facade while Morrible scrutinizes her. i'm really looking forward to seeing that on screen as well as the whole "i'm always happy" with Fiyero walking away

For those who've seen the Musical on stage, I've heard Act 2 is commonly thought to be a significantly weaker act. What are your general expectations of or your headspace at with this film? Is it going to be like It 2 where folks would be forgiving for the narrative as long as production values, music and acting remain good given that the source material was already flawed narratively to begin with?

I think the problem with Act 2 in the stage show is that it’s so rushed, as it’s shorter than Act 1 yet has a lot more actual plot to fit in, so the pacing is messy. So I think it’s the act that could benefit the most from getting stretched out like Act 1 did for the movie, as long as they spend the extra time on the right things. So more than Act 1, this one has a really good chance of actually improving from the source material imo.

Okay so I know nothing about Wicked at all. Don’t know the story with the novel or the play etc. But I love musicals and have really wanted to see this. Finally sat down yesterday to watch it and I absolutely loveddddd it. The For Good trailer got me even more hyped now. They got a new fan 100%
