Andy Samberg To Star In Fox & Universal TV’s Mike Schur/Dan Goor Cop Comedy
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: In a big early casting coup this broadcast development season, Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg is set as the lead of Fox‘s untitled Mike Schur/Dan Goor comedy pilot. The single-camera comedy, written by the Parks And Recreation duo of co-creator/exec producer/showrunner Schur and executive producer Goor, is about a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. Emmy winner Samberg will play the lead detective. He will also serve as a producer of the comedy, from Universal TV, which is executive produced by Schur, Goor and 3 Arts’ David Miner. “Andy’s hilarious, and he was the first guy we thought of when we designed the part,” Schur and Goor said. “From the moment we mentioned his name, everyone at Universal Television and Fox was 100% on-board. Andy loved the pitch, and it all came together really quickly. We couldn’t be happier.”

In a fierce biggest bidding war, Schur and Goor’s pitch landed at Fox in August with a rich pilot production commitment. The casting of Samberg will no doubt turn that into a pilot order once the script is completed.

During his seven-year stint on Saturday Night Live, which he left this summer, Samberg, along with his Lonely Island cohorts Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, ushered the venerable sketch comedy show into the digital age with their viral digital shorts, including megahit “D*** In A Box” featuring Timberlake, which won them an Emmy.

Samberg is currently starring on the hit BBC Three sitcom Cuckoo, where he plays an idle young American who marries a British girl and comes into conflict with his wife’s overprotective father (Greg Davies). He can also be seen in the features Celeste & Jesse Forever and is heard opposite Adam Sandler in the animated box office hit Hotel Transylvania after recently starring opposite Sandler in That’s My Boy. Samberg, Schur and Goor are repped by UTA. Samberg is managed by Mosaic, Schur by 3 Arts.
Not a huge fan of Samberg, but with Michael Schur at the helm, that could change.

If this is half as good as Parks and Rec, I already love this.

Parks and Rec meets The Wire? I'm in.

If only they can get Idris Elba or Michael K. Williams in this *****...

Seriously, can someone build a ****ing wall to keep these bots out? :o

Not gonna happen...they're (the bots) friends of Thread Manager...

If Schur wanted Samberg I think it will work just like Poehler worked for Parks. Hope its paired with New Girl next fall.

Just had a brilliant casting idea.

Megan Mullally. Police Commissioner.

Sounds funny, I want Andy to reprise his role on parks first though,

Mike Schur/Dan Goor Cop Comedy Starring Andy Samberg Gets Pilot Order At Fox
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Fox has handed its first pilot order this season to a cop comedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg. Written by the Parks And Recreation duo of co-creator/exec producer/showrunner Mike Schur and exec producer Dan Goor, the untitled project is about a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City, with Samberg playing the lead detective. Universal TV, where Schur is under an overall deal, is producing.

The Schur/Goor project had been one of Fox’s strongest pilot pickup contenders. It already carried one of the largest penalties at the network this season after landing at Fox in August with a rich pilot production commitment following a fierce bidding war. Then in October, Samberg, hot off his seven-year stint on SNL, came on board to play the lead. And last month, the Schur/Goor comedy was one of a handful of projects given permission to hire a casting director and start casting. The project is executive produced by Schur, Goor and 3 Arts’ David Miner, with Samberg producing.

This marks the third consecutive year that Fox has picked up a pilot from NBC’s sibling studio following medical drama Weekends At Bellevue in 2011 and The Mindy Project last year. Schur and Goor are repped by UTA. Samberg is managed by Mosaic, Schur by 3 Arts.

I assumed it already had one considering they already cast their lead actor.

Terry Crews To Star In Fox’s Andy Samberg Comedy Pilot Helmed By Phil Lord & Chris Miller
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Terry Crews is set to co-star opposite Andy Samberg in Fox’s untitled Mike Schur/Dan Goor comedy pilot. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) have come on board to direct the single-camera project, which revolves around a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. Crews, repped by WME and 3 Arts, will play Terry Jeffords, the no-nonsense but father-like Sargent who runs the detective squad. Samberg plays the lead detective. Universal TV produces. Lord and Miller are with UTA. Crews, who starred on the Tyler Perry’s TBS series Are We There Yet, has been sought after this pilot season, getting three offers before settling on the Schur/Goor project. He recurs on Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama The Newsroom and will appear in the upcoming Netflix reboot of Arrested Development. On the feature side, the Expendables co-star recently wrapped Tyler Perry’s Single Mom’s Club.
Terry Crews? Directors of 21 Jump Street? Alright... I was already in, but now even more so.

I wonder if it'll be mockumentary like Parks and Rec...

Lol, dang, what's with the Samberg hate?

I'm going to keep an ear open for this.

EXCLUSIVE: One Life To Live alumna Melissa Fumero has landed the female lead opposite Andy Samberg in Fox’s untitled Mike Schur/Dan Goor comedy pilot. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing direct the single-camera ensemble project, which revolves around a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. Fumero, repped by Innovative and Corner Booth Entertainment, will play Amy, an attractive, smart detective who grew up in the outskirts of NYC. Before becoming a cop, she was a middle-school teacher, which is her hidden super-power — compared to sixth-graders, real life criminals are a piece of cake. When it comes to dating, she doesn’t date cops, though not for lack of opportunities. In the pilot, Fumero also joins co-star Terry Crews.

Andre Braugher To Co-Star In Fox’s Andy Samberg Pilot
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Andre Braugher has been set to star alongside Andy Samberg in Universal TV’s Schur/Goor comedy pilot for Fox. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing direct the single-camera ensemble project, which revolves around a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. Braugher will play Capt. Holt, who after 30 years of the force has finally gotten his own command, and he’s not going to let anyone, least of all Jake (Samberg), screw it up. This marks the first half-hour comedy series for Homicide alum Braugher, who most recently starred in ABC’s short-lived Last Resort.
**** just got serious, y'all.

Joe Lo Truglio (Wreck-It Ralph, Free Agents) has landed the last series regular in the Andy Samberg-starring Fox comedy pilot, from Mike Schur, Dan Goor, Universal TV and 3 Arts. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing the single-camera pilot, which revolves around a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. Truglio, repped by UTA, manager Andy Corren and and attorney David Matlof, will play Charles, a recently divorced veteran detective who looks up to the younger Jake (Samberg). The cast of the pilot also includes Terry Crews, Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumera, Stephanie Beatriz and Chelsea Peretti.
Still wonder whether or not this will be mockumentary like Parks and Rec/The Office...

http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/primetime-pilot-panic-the-early-buzz/
In the past two years, Fox had a clear early comedy favorite with New Girl and The Mindy Project, respectively, both of whom rode the momentum to series orders. This time around, it is a male-centered half-hour that is getting the strongest yearly buzz, the Andy Samberg-starring Mike Schur/Dan Goor cop comedy. Since the three comedy series Fox has renewed for next season all have female skew, Raising Hope and especially New Girl and The Mindy Project, the Schur/Goor project could be a potential companion for the male-centered Dads, which already has a six-episode order and is coming off a strong table read.

An article in TV Guide about pilots says this has been titled Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that title. It's a little... eh.

I'm looking forward to it. In the past I've enjoyed cop-themed comedy shows, from semi-serious ones like Hooperman, to absurdist ones like Bakersfield PD (criminally underrated show that was cancelled too early) to mockumentary ones like Reno 911.
