I was watching the King of the Ring DVD on Netlix last night. It's basically a bunch of King of the Ring matches from the most notable winners and the KOTR ppvs in the past. Really good stuff there, but one thing that really jumped out at me was the Stone Cold vs. HBK match at KOTR in 97 where they were the tag champs fighting each other. I remember it back then, but looking at it as an adult it's very similar to Cena vs. Punk now. Both guys got big pops from the crowd, and the kids and females seemed to be more into one than the other. J.R. even mentioned how Stone Cold's cheers had a bit more bass in their cheers than Shawn Michaels' did. lol
Of course the major difference is in the talent. Obviously Stone Cold and Shawn Michaels are much better than Punk and Cena. Not knocking the latter two because HBK and Austin are literally elite all timers no matter what era you compare them to. HBK didn't get boos mixed in his cheers the way Cena does now. The Stone Cold/HBK rivalry was good, but ended short because of Shawn's back injury. If they play their cards right Cena and Punk could be that, but they have to get better at booking it instead of using it as just another way to try and get Cena more cheers. Punk and Cena have had some good matches, so I want creative to start booking their feud better since there is a ton of potential there.
The ending with both HBK and Stone Cold hitting their finishers on the referees was hilarious.
You send out short 15 second videos. I'd rather use YouTube personally. If I'm going to spend time making a video on a particular subject then it will last longer than 15 seconds.
So which stupid Raw Active thing will the WWE do tonight?

I don't know how WWE think they will get him to sign for less when he's proven he equals buyrates in the US.
Steamboat-esque execution!
That's a good point, in Hogan's day staying on top for such a long time was different as you didn't see him very often, but in the current system saturation would probably turn the crowd on any face after a few years.
The other key thing there is the term handpicked, Austin really wasn't and the version of The Rock that was/is hugely over was not the one Vince envisioned, Cena on the other hand is a rubber stamped WWE creation.
Unfortunate for him, because Cena really does work hard. It's too bad they're adamant about turning him heel, because that would refresh his character and make him more bearable. It's been the same thing year in and year out.

Wife #5?
Best of WCW, imo. I thought you were going to mention Glacier t:
Cryonic kick!
I liked that austin and rock weren't on top for years and years like Hogan and Cena. They didnt become too stale, and ultimately, Austin and Rock didnt need to be on top for years to make a similar level of impact to guys like Hogan. Cena's been on top seven years, and its largely been controversial. Of all of Vince's handpicked guys, Cena will probably go down as the least popular.
Hogan made as much of an impact as Austin did in the same short amount of time. Les than two years on top and Hogan had changed the industry. Wrestlemania was launched by 85. If Hogan HAD retired by 89 or 90 he would have had the same amount of time at the top with the same or more impact than Austin.
Its a tricky question with Cena. Hard to say he's the least popular. He's the most controversial among the hardcore fanbase but right now WWE's fanbase is stronger than it was and Cenas fans are making WWE more money than when Bret and Shawn were on top. Cena's also had more longterm longevity and popularity than Warrior. So no I don't think anybody can say for sure than Cena is the least popular star of Vince McMahon's making.
The reason WWe wants someone young is bevause they want someone who will have longevity and be a top earner for years to come. Even some of the people who hate Cena are still paying to see him lose.
I don't think Cena doesn't care. We know he wants some changes and he even might want to turn heel. Its just that unlike ALL those other top stars he has very little power. More than any of the others his character and push at the top is a WWE creation. Cena's not going to politic against McMahon the way Hogan or Austin or HBK did. Not that kind of guy nor is he of that dog eat dog era. Those guys were bred in a tougher business. What kind of bargaining posture does he have?
As we saw with The Rock he's a company man. Even Michaels never would have done that in his prime. Its not like Cena can just say "do it my way or I go to WCW." About the only thing he could do to get McMahon nervous is quit becaus they know they have no one ready to take his spot taht they like. Of course in all of McMahons ego he could tell Cena to f*** off thinking that he's still such a genius that he could easily create another John Cena.

Stupid, no? Its another Vince McMahon headgame. Lesnar has the power now. He's shown he can bring older fans back and maybe even some outside interest. If Vince does offer him less it would be smart for it to be as small a drop in salary as possible. I could easily see Lesnar balking if he's lowballed.
