Budget $45 million

I can't see anything when clicking on it. If the budget is 45 mil, then there's a good chance there be a sequel. It's made 21 mil overseas and hasn't even opened in the UK and Australia. Then there's here.

Even if it breaks even or makes a small profit it's still wasted potential. A properly made and properly promoted DBZ film should gross very solid numbers worldwide. This one won't crack $75 million, I think.

Yeah, even if it makes back the money and gets enough for a sequel I'm pretty sure a better-made movie would have generated better word of mouth and create a larger box office intake.

Just yesterday you said it won't make more than $35 mil world wide. What changed your mind?

According to this the buget is $45 million. Think its legit?

That would explain the quality of the VFX shots.
There were reports that this movie would cost 100 million but really if you compare some of the VFX shots in movies like The Matrix ( 65 million) or the first X-men movie ( 75 million) or even 300 ( budget 65 million) , then i honestly can't believe that this movie would cost that much and deliver sucha low quality.

Then again if production was rushed ( i dunno if this the case) then that ould explain a whole lot

I think he meant 35 million over-seas.

This.

I'm not committed to a particular number internationally, or domestically, as far as box office goes. All I will commit to is the belief DBE won't be exceeding 70-75m worldwide.

filming was rushed. remember the movie was meant to come out in july or august. they filmed at the beginning of 2008. when the relaese date was delayed they had more then 6 months for post production.

filming was rushed...........everything else.........not

a $45 million budget is pathetic. even the first Superman movie cost more than that ($55 million) and that was made more than 3 decades ago.

45 Million... Wow... They really did this just to hold onto the rights.

that's what it seems like.

"this property isn't worth putting any real time, effort, or money into so let's just dish something out. hopefully we'll get some kind of return out of it. oh and btw, change stuff around to appease us American producers that don't even care about DB in the first place."

You guys need to see the good side of things lol. If the budget was indeed 45 million that's actually good news. The movie will most likely make over 90 million (double the budget) , which usually means a sequel will be greenlit. And if that happens they will give it a bigger budget, which 'might' mean a longer movie and more special effects stuff (like buildings or mountains blowing up while having an epic battle or scenes involving the Sayain spaceships). Plus such a low budget can be blamed for some, not most, but some of this movie's flaws.

i've never read a post that actually made me want to vomit until that one.

Wow, that's really low. But I guess when you're losing money as rapidly as studios are nowadays, a big budget might not look so promising. Seems like FOX invested most of their money into Wolverine (which looks awesome) and had this take a backseat. Economically speaking, it was a smart move. Still, this film would've been worth the risk I'm sure. Oh well.

$45 million would explain how cheap and cheesy the movie looks, but until this is corroborated, I don't put much stock in it.

It's been widely reported as being budgeted at $100 million for months.

I don't buy this. We have one foreign source saying this is $45 million after it was reported at being $100 million for ages. I know when I see one source saying one thing and ten sources saying another, I side with the ten.

I need to see another two or three independent sources before I believe this.

pst.....we've never had a legit source confirm the $100 million budget.

no one truly knows, but the fact that we've gone this long without any confirmation of the $100 million rumor and ESPECIALLY because this movie looks like it cost $45 million to make....i'd more inclined to believe that it's a $45 mil movie.

from a trusty source:
in an interview with james wong, he say : "the budget of the film is around 50 millons".
this interview comes out next week.

$45 million, $50 million, $100 million...it really doesn't matter what budget this movie actually had, it's still a crappy movie and a PATHETIC Dragon Ball movie.

edit: but thanks, as always, for the news, Chelo!
