Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 2

Aye, I always thought the finale should have had a longer run time than a regular episode, I'd have to go back and watch it to think of things I'd want expanded upon, but I have thought that before too. Shows usually do that, Oz, The Sopranos, the Seinfeld finale was a two-parter...

Season 3 is the best. Mayor Wilkins had the best lines , like this one :"Now, Faith, I don't find that sort of thing amusing. I'm a family man. Now, let's kill your little friend. Don't worry, I wouldn't ask you to do it. Not this early in the relationship. Besides, I think a vampire attack would look less suspicious, anyway. In the meantime, let's look at the rest of the apartment, huh? If I'm not mistaken, some lucky girl has herself a PlayStation" :awesome:

Yeah, the mayor was great. You could tell Whedon had fun with that villain.

The Mayor is my favourite villain of the Buffyverse.

There's just something uber creepy about that 'polite exterior' :)

I still think Glorificus was the best big bad

I loved how someone that looked like Buffy was the big evil villian which was so different from past seasons which had these older evil maless or flat out monstrous. Glory was so regular from the way she looked to the way she talked, but she was stronger, more powerful and a real threat to Buffy. Plus she was fun and had amazing lines and a great sense of humor. She rocked

In hindsight, I wish The Master had gotten more of a chance to shine.

Agree. Could of gotten a lot more out of him. Shame the first season was only 12 episodes.

I just read that in season 8 (the comics) Angel is possessed and murders Giles. Wish I hadn't read that now. :(

Yeah. It was about as stupid as it sounds, too. But it's given us Angel's latest attempt at redemption in the Angel & Faith series, which is great.

And now Doyle! Damnit! That was unexpected mid way through the first season.

For some reason, I've always really liked the design of Doyle's demon half. It's just a green face with thorns coming out of it, but it looks awesome to me.

I always wondered why he didn't just demon out and headbutt people whenever he got into fights.

Doyle's death didn't really get to me when I first watched it, but it's waaaay sadder to me now knowing that Glenn Quinn is dead in real life. :(

I really didn't like the episode where Doyle died. The Scourge didn't make any sense to me.

What's not to get? They were purebred demons that wanted to kill all the other ones that weren't pure.

Adding to what Axls said, the Scourge were the Nazi's of the demon world. Look at their uniforms, and the vehicles and motorcycles they use. The way they want to cleanse the earth of inferior races, and half-breeds leaving only the pure demons. It was pretty straightforward what they were about.

I never would have thought of him as the heroine type. It really is sad.

Well, supposedly Doyle was killed off because behind the scenes, Quinn was partying too hard and drawing Boreanaz into that world. So they killed off the character and fired the actor.

At least, that's the story I've heard. Not sure how reliable it is.

I heard that he was hired knowing how long his character would last. Remember, joss always wanted to do something like this. Besides, from a story standpoint you need a Death to get things moving. Wasn't going to be Angel or Cordy. And since Angel wasn't Torchwood the main characters didn't die in like every episode (hyperbole)

The storyline in itself sort of made sense... What didn't make any sense whatsoever is how Doyle shutting down that weapon and sacrificing himself actually stopped them...

Why on earth did we never hear about them again?

Yeah, that's incredibly stupid... I might have to never read the comics...

all this talk is making me want to rewatch the entire series. I have the boxset but the furthest I went before I got busy was season 3. I will have to plan to get through it all from the beginning sometime in the future
