Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

Im so sad that FOX isnt doing anything big for Buffys 20th anniversary. They are airing the first 2 episodes on POP and coming out with some merch but nothing great. Such a shame.

I want some merch. I was at a con a few years ago and someone told me they discontinued it.

I'm happy with the comics in general but I would really, really love to see an animated continuation of the series. Either as a TV series or as a series of direct-to-video films ala DC's Animated Original Universe.

Then they wouldn't have to worry too much about budget constraints or how much the cast has aged.

I never understood why the Buffy universe wasnt expanded more in the first place, it always had so much potential to do.
But except the comics, there is not that much out there.
You could do cartoons, games, animated series, tons of merchandise and so on.

There are multiple video games based on Buffy, and two of them are actually good:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox) - this is a fantastic 3D beat em up. Stage based with RPG-like character growth.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds (Xbox/Gamecube/PS2) - Actually a step down from the first game due to some frustrating camera situations, but still surprisingly solid.

The three handheld games are nothing special, though. Generic, average licensed platformers on GBC and GBA, clunky 3D action game on DS.

There was an animated series planned at one point but it never came to fruition.

I've got some unofficial Enamel pins, If anyone is interested! @matts99 is my Instagram handle.

Yes i know about them, chaos bleeds is the one i had...maybe its lying around here somewhere.

That is my point, a couple of games that are "quite" old, a animated series that never happened, comics and a couple of figures are pretty much all the series gets/got.

There is so much potential to build up on the show itself or the comic universe in terms of merchandise and stuff.
I dont understand why this doesnt get more Recognition.
Even 20 years Later, this show is still great and has huge potential imo.

Happy belated anniversary, Buffy!

My personal Top 10:

1. "Restless"
2. "Hush"
3. "Once More, with Feeling"
4. "The Body"
5. "Conversations with Dead People"
6. "The Zeppo"
7. "Graduation Day" (1&2)
8. "Selfless"
9. "Innocence"
10. "Fool for Love"

It's funny how, besides S1 (which I almost consider more of a "warm-up" than a proper season, tbh), my two least-favorite seasons in terms of overall arcs are S4 and S7, yet they both contain more of my favorite individual episodes than pretty much any other seasons. And then my absolute favorite season, S5, contains fewer of my favorite individual eps, but as a whole I think it's amazing. Just a sign that even at the show's weaker points, it still managed greatness, imo, and there's no truly wasted season.

Well that's the thing about the practice of melding season-long arcs with stand-alone episodes. Whereas with a strictly serialized show, a s***ty arc just kind of permeates everything, there's enough division with this method that you can have great episodes in weak arcs and vice versa. I mean, it seems to me that's the story of The X-Files' entire existence: the mythology is a s***show and the show's legacy stands on the shoulders of solo episodes.

I'd have to have a rewatch but I'd agree with The Body as No.1.

The Gift, Becoming and Graduation all pretty worthy to be in the Top 10. Would also seriously consider the Zeppo as a surprise entry into the Top 10.

Amends, Primeval, Nightmares, Prophecy Girl, Passion and Surprise have always been personal favourites as well.

They all look amazing, it's crazy after so long. I've aged more in 20 years and I'm younger than the lot of them (other than maybe Michelle Trachtenberg). :oldrazz:

Goddamn Gellar. Just always hot.

I watched ****ing Cruel Intentions for her.

They did that Bangel cover DIRTY though! Especially compared to SPuffys cover.

So Nick Brendan was there but not allowed/wanted in the group shot? Apparently there's some bad blood? 😕 (this may be well known in this thread and I just missed the conversation)

EDIT: He's in the other group shot. Panic over. I have been misinformed. Everything is right in the world #scoobygang4life
