Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

I think it was only that Rachel chick (the one Tiger Woods slept with, too).

The only ones missing are Eliza/Faith Juliet/Drusilla.:csad:
Forgetting Giles, are we?

Faith and Drusilla were great characters but there are a lot of characters missing with more or about the same number of episodes, unless you include Angel

Not counting big bads or very minor but often visible characters (Oz's band, Initiative characters, Potentials, Glory's crew, etc)

Rupert Giles (121 episodes)
Riley Finn (31 episodes)
Jonathan Levinson (28 episodes)
Andrew Wells (26 episodes + 2 episodes of Angel)
Principal Snyder (19 episodes)
Warren Mears (16 episodes)
Harmony Kendall (15 episodes + 17 episodes of Angel)
Jenny Calendar (14 episodes)
Robin Wood (14 episodes)
Amy Madison (8 episodes)
Clem (8 episodes)
Darla (5 + 20 episodes of Angel)

Faith Lehane (20 episodes + 6 episodes of Angel)
Drusilla (17 episodes + 7 episodes of Angel)

Wesley was only in 9 episodes of Buffy. He did almost all of his work for the franchise on Angel, with 100 episodes.

Probably not going to tell Allison Hannigan that she can't bring her husband...

There was also domestic abuse with Brendan.

Granted, I don't know why they let Boreanaz in.

You can't do this without him. His character is pretty iconic for the series

Faith is the only one I would say is missing (outside of Giles) but I read a scheduling conflict prevented her from being included

ETA: I forgot about Finn. Yeah I'd have him there too as a series regular

I miss this show so much. I really want to see it again to see how it holds up, but just don't have the time these days :csad:.

Yeah I did forget Tony but Drusilla and Faith were the only ones out of all on that list that was a part of cast photoshoots and advertised to be apart of the show.

I've had a couple of rewatches and it holds up well enough. I found my perspective changed on certain things depending on where I was at in life. That's the kind of thing that makes the show truly great.

Anyone know what Mercedes McNab (Harmony) is up to these days?

Some fun little featurettes.

The Reunion

And of course, THE question.

Lol SMG trying to keep the peace online. Like girl! you've made it blatantly clear since it happened way back when that you HATED Spuffy. As Buffy you choose Angel and as Sarah you choose Angel.

I dont know if she "hated" it, but she was always full on Bangel...mainly because she and David are big buddys i think.
But in the recent years she was far more open towards Spuffy.

Either way it really doesnt bother me, in the end Joss is the one who dictates the official canon in the comics and he is far more pro Spuffy than Bangel.

I'm not overly mad about either relationship at this stage. Speaking strictly in show terms and ignoring comics, I think both Bangel and Spuffy ended up where they were supposed to. Both shaped major parts of her life and she'll always love both in a very deep way, but she outgre both romantically.

I was always Team Spike because he was more witty and sarcastic than Angel. Also because as an evil, soulless vampire, he loved Buffy enough to fight to get his soul back. Something Angelus would never do.

It also helps that, I think, James is a better person than David.

I never knew that SMG preferred Bangel.

That's pretty much why I was Team Spike too (I didn't hate Angel or anything, I just preferred Spike)

Que?

Though I get your point, Spike's love did grow more organically. I'm still not quite happy with their reasoning however on what made Spike more capable of emotion and love even without a soul than Angelus.

From what I gathered their reasoning was that while Liam was reckless and irresponsible as a human, William was more sensitive and capable of deep feeling. Basically that William was the better person while the loss of a soul exasperated the worst in Liam.

Screw Angel and Spike. I loved Buffy and Riley

Lol, she's really transparent about the whole thing and I love it. The Queen has spoken, and it is Angel.

I have to disagree with the idea that Spike's love for Buffy was organic, or at least on her end. It always seemed to be something they threw in to give Spike something to do in order to justify keeping him around for ratings. I've always been too distracted by the fact that Buffy gets handed the idiot ball and lets him live at the end of season 4 despite the fact that he betrayed them to help Adam and was very much still a threat to them and innocents despite the chip (which could stop working at any time, for all they knew).

But I do have to agree with fandom's assessment of Liam being kind of exaggerated. He was a sleaze who liked to drink and was lazy, but I never got the impression that he was a terrible person from what little we saw of him. Immature, but he still clearly loved his sister at least. I think a lot of it is Angel just retroactively applying Angelus's evil to his human self. We have Darla saying that darkness was innate, but...she's not the most reliable source either. Spike, meanwhile, was still second only to Angelus in terms of brutality. And other vampires have displayed redeemable qualities, notably Harmony.

Screw Angel and Spike. I loved Buffy and Riley

I noticed immediately that Head and Dushku were missing, but it honestly took me a few days to realize Blucas was missing from this anniversary special. Lol I didn't mind Riley too much, but that says it all really.

I almost wish they had celebrated the entire Buffyverse here and got at least Amy Acker and J. August Richards in this as well. Angel deserves way more recognition than it gets.:csad:

I don't mean organic as in believable as I never bought into it completely myself. Season 6 was probably the most realistic portrayal of their relationship for me in which you have a clearly depressed Buffy acting out her self loathing by giving herself over to the darkness ie Spike.

But the way they wrote their relationship they certainly wanted us to believe that it was more genuine and real than Bangel.

Yeah, season 6 not shying away from how ugly it was in some parts was certainly believable. My general issue with season 6 is that I can respect the fact that it wanted to drag the characters through the mud, and I even think it succeeded in some regards. "Death Things" is a legitimately great episode despite how ugly it was. But I think season 7 failed it. It didn't do a very good job at building the characters back up because it had so much on its plate, and season 6 suffers in hindsight.

The writers for the show were infamously divided on how they felt on Spuffy. For me it comes down to the actors: Gellar's friendship with Boreanaz and her investment in that romance comes through in the performance, so I had an easier time believing that romance. Whereas her dislike of those later storylines likewise came through, so I never bought that Buffy was genuinely in love with Spike no matter which lines they gave her to say.

Buffy was unlikeable for large parts of season 6 which is not good considering she was the main character

I found her fine in season 6, or at least much more sympathetic because she was suffering from clinical depression.

Season 7 was where she got bad, IMO. But then, there weren't many characters I liked left by that point. Thank god for Faith.

I do think that was the point though.

Aye whatever season 6 did to the characters, season 7 didn't do a good enough job in helping them grow out of it. Says it all that Faith ultimately became one of the most mature and well rounded members of the gang.

I'll have to watch again but you're probably right in that something didn't seem right from SMG's performance. I particularly remember being left cold by her S7 performance. It seemed like she was definitely unhappy.
