Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

Angel is not as tied to morality and also doesn't have a sacred duty to uphold.

Season 6 was pretty much garbage with the exception of the musical. You could clearly feel the lack of joss that season.

The magic = drugs metaphor was way too blatant and not done well

Yeah that's the one thing that felt so cringey to me about Season 6. Alyson did the best she could but the writing was way too much on the nose and lacked any kind of subtly.

SMG on the other hand fared well enough handling Buffy's depression even if she does hate the arc. That's what made her checking out for S7 so strange to me as she got what wanted in getting Joss back as hands on.

I think S6 is what made SMG decide to end the show with S7 and she was probably just over the show and ready to move on with life with FPj.

The funny thing now is that SMG is perhaps the most enthused talking about the show from the cast when I wouldn't have expected that at all based on how the show finished.

I would have loved a season on either of the shows of Buffy, Spike and Angel (maybe Faith too) working together.

Who do people here consider to have been the best supporting character on either show? For me, it was Wesley. I thought his journey was the most interesting and tragic. It is funny watching him in early seasons, and seeing how different he was at the beginning to what he became in later seasons on Arrow.

Wesley is a good shout but if Cordelia can be classed as supporting she would be my shout.

Hated Tara at first but she ended up one of my favourites

Wesley is so great. Probably my favorite in the Buffyverse. Cordelia is up there as well. Comparing their first and last appearances is pretty amazing. They went though so much in both shows and became such excellent characters. They kind of ruined Cordy in season 4 of Angel. But her last appearance in season 5 made up for it.

Kind of a shame none of the Buffy characters besides Willow got to see their changes. Would have been fun to see the reactions. Especially to how bad ass Wes became.

It is something she has grown to appreciate and knows where majority of her fans come from. The first few years after the show ended she tried to distance herself from the show whereas everyone else stuck with it and very much loved the show. She refused to voice the character for the video games, refused to come back for the animated series pitch, wouldn't come back for a cameo for Angel which ruffled some feathers, wanted to see a script for a movie if there was one whereas everyone else said that would do it automatically. I think since she is comfortable with shutting down a possible return (since she is a "grandma") she doesnt worry about having to be Buffy again so she enjoys it more.

I'm still pissed that Cordelia was the ONLY original cast member to never show up on Buffy again and the only one to be killed off. I am glad that Charisma and Joss mended their relationship but he did her so dirty for getting knocked up and making them change their storyline half way.

If Angel can do it, why not the Buffster?

Angel is not as tied to morality and also doesn't have a sacred duty to uphold.

To be fair, it was Cordelia's idea more than it was Angel's. Though he certainly ran with it, and his clients were more than happy to pay him.

They had a really good arc going with Willow becoming more arrogant in the use of her power, fueled by her insecurities from being bullied in high school and playing second fiddle to Buffy for years, which is vastly more interesting. How we went from that to magical crack is something that baffles me to this day, though Hannigan played it very well.

I still wish Angel and Cordy, and maybe Wes as well, had shown up for "the Gift," which seemed intended to be the finale at the time. More crossovers in general would have been great. Gunn, Fred and Lorne interacting with the Scoobies would have been very interesting.

That whole thing sucked. Cordy should have remained a series regular in season 5. I love that season, but keeping Cordy as the co-lead instead of Spike would have made it even better.

Also ditch Eve and throw Lilah back in there and we're golden.

I hated Tara from beginning to end. She was one of the worsts

IA with the sentiments about Wes and Cordy though. Loved them

well they had to change things as she was pregnant and they had to come up with a way to write her out of the season. Charisma hid her pregnancy until the last minue when she should have given them more headway in order to deal it creatively. I wish she hadnt been killed off but thats a seperate issue as she was left alive in season 4, with her fate open ended for a return in season 5 as a regular cast member

I don't know, Angel and Spike playing off each other helped make that season great.

Yeah. There's an alternate universe where Cordy stuck around that I would like to see, but I love the Angel/Spike dynamic of that season.

I'm just glad Carpenter was able to put it aside for the 100th episode. Nice way to rip out my heart.

Obviously she had the right idea considering she lost her job over it and (according to her) wasnt even told about it until Season 5 started production.

Season 5 was great but it would've been even better having Cordelia around to interact with Spike. At least reintroduce her in the 100th episode instead of having her appear and everyone forgetting about it. They could've done that much.

But if by some magical way this universe ever gets started again, I guess whoever is in charge could bring her back via PTB.

Met Cordelia today, she called me cute.

Lucky you! Is she as beautiful in person as her photographs?

IMO, if you are working on a tv show, something like a pregnancy is something you need to reveal to your bosses. Acting isnt a regular job where something like that doesnt affect anyone

Havok, yes she is ****ing magnificent.

Seeing this thread pop up made me remember how much I used to love the Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel TV shows when they were on.

I remember literally near crying with laughter watching this scene on Angel -

The main conceit of Buffy 6 is flawed. Real life is the big bad, but it never really feels real. I was really annoyed when Willow explains how broke Buffy is, when she and Tara have been living in the house for months. Then Giles gives Buffy a massive bail-out only for her to need to flip burgers a few episodes later. The show strained to keep Buffy's father out of the picture also, despite him being depicted as a caring dad early on.

I have many problems with the season. I wish Giles left because Buffy pushed him away, instead of coming off as a incredibly harsh lesson in independence. I wish Xander and Anya continued to struggle as a young married couple, instead of the soap drama and another break up. I wish Willow's relationship with magic continued to be about the abuse of power, and not a cheesy drug addiction metaphor. I wish Dawn had anything to do other than whine. Warren as a human villain was great, but I wish him killing Tara wasn't such an unbelievable coincedence.

Once More With Feeling is fantastic. I like Normal Again and Afterlife as well. Other episodes have their moments, but overall, meh.

I know people loved them but I hated the nerd trio primarily bc of Jonathan. Ranks up there as one of the worst side characters and they went and not only brought him back but expanded his role. I liked Warren and didnt mind Andrew but the three together just werent compelling, especially coming after Glory

I imagine most people would say that Angelus was the best big bad in the Buffy/Angel universe. After him, who do people here think was the best? My feeling is most will say The Mayor.
