Does his robot form change when he gets his upgrade from an old Camaro to the 2008 model? Also, are the spypics we've seen of him before or after the upgrade?

THANKS!

He changes robot forms and the pics are from the new 2009 Camaro Bumblebee.

I'm getting confused here. I thought he was a millenium camaro period. I mean if he was an 80's Camaro wouldn't that be ruipping off K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider? They might as well have hired David Hasselhoff to play Spike.

Well, either way they both look the same. I've seen K.I.T.T. made from camaros, trans ams and firebirds.

except you're not even correct in which version of the camaro you're thinking applies to bublebee

so...i havent really been following this movie progress, but why is bumblebee a camaro and not a VW bug?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.I.T.T.

K.I.T.T. was a 1982+ TransAm, which is when GM switched to a fiberglass body design, whereas Bumblebee is a 1979 Camaro, which was a different design and true detroit steal (used to own a 1981 Camaro which was the same body style).

VW does not want to endorse any movie that is about war. Go figure, a company with ties to the NAZI party would have a problem with that...

ahh. ok. i figgured it mightve been cold feet on Vw's end. didn't think about the Nazi angle, though.

well, it still sucks:csad:

but thanks, Atrophy

The main reason is that the producers had to get someone to supply the vechicle forms, instead of making them all from scratch and swipping real vechicle designs and leaving themselves open to getting sued by car companies. They went with an American car company - GM. And GM is bringing back the Camaro. This is going to be the coolest car commercial for GM ever! Think about it. The producers of this movie could have went with foriegn car manufacturers and there would have been a huge backlash. Now we might see a "product placement" backlash, but I doubt it - this is a film that supports American-made vechicles and for that reason alone I think it's cool. At least they didn't make bumblebee a cavalier. The new Camaro is tight.:thing:

Ford also supplied the new Mustang for the police car

The Bug wasnt' cool enough. So said the writers in their webcat Q&A from this past Friday. Check it out on Yahoo! Sorry, don't have a link.

it was VW and the writers were trying to be nice about it

Bumblebee looks freakin ugly right now...the body is OK...a little to skeletal...but it's the face that's the worst. It has no emotion or personality. It doesn't even LOOK like a face.

They woulda come off better letting VW take the fall, when that was thier reason I was ok with it. Now im just like "ok I was right to begin with bay and the writers are asshats with just a little more respect to the matereal then Singer" To paraphrase Prime "Michael Bay must be stopped, no matter the cost!" ::cue "the touch"::

I'd bet large amounts of cash that VW were interested. They certainly were at the early stages.

if VW dropped out they could tried for a mini Cooper instead. But i suppose the same German/Nazi connections would've scared off BMW.

Too bad. a mini cooper Bumblebee coulda been cool.

I agree. In fact, I would have preferred a Mini over a Beetle regardless of anything.
I really can't stand him being a Muscle Car. It's just so cliche.

and so totally not bumblebee's personality.

plus the cooper would have hinted at the smaller stature he had as a toy and in the comics and cartoons. oh well.

Read the script a bit. Bumblebee is introduced into the movie while Spike is shopping for his 1st car. Spike is picked on a lot at school, a bit of an outcast, so he wants a car that will help him gain some cool points. Now, if you are under the age of 25, what would your 1st car have been if you fit his character and only had $4000 total to spend?
