 Ok so Halo 3 is the biggest game ever, but it's the end of the story of master cheif(says bungie). Where does bungie go from here? Do they make a next gen Marathon or Myth, maybe a game in the Halo universe, or will they make a completely new game? What do you think?

Halo Wars, and a few other Halo spinoffs are already in the works...so probably that stuff

I think we can expect to see another game featuring Master Chief sometime. It may not be Halo, but I'm sure it'll feature Master Chief.

Or maybe a new trilogy about "The Very First Spartan" since Master Chief is the last

Bungie gets together for a large ritual suicide. They don't want to make spin-offs and live off of the fame from Halo. They want to make original and creative games. With the shadow of halo that leads to the suicide when a comet comes by.

They've said everything from "not halo" to "set in the halo universe, but not halo" to "totally unrelated to halo"...so who the hell knows...we know there very next project is the one they're doing with Peter Jackson which is set in the Halo universe though.

They could give Halo 3 a spiritual sequel. A new franchise with many of the same elements and gameplay but enough different to warrant it being a new series

Id like a rainbow six vegas type game where you play as a ODST soldier.

In terms of Bungie, they are done with Halo. Sure, they will continue to "oversee" a few side-projects like "Halo Wars" and the "Peter Jackson Project" but in terms of development teams, they are done with Halo.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to making strategy games, what with the current push for RTS games on consoles.

However I am expecting a third-person action (possibly role-playing) game that, if sci-fi, is completely different sci-fi from Halo. However, I would expect it to be a fantasy themed game.

It'd be nice to see them make an updated version of Marathon. That would be great.

But I totally expect them to come up with something quite original next.

yeah, I'd love to see a Marathon remake...hell, I'd love to see just slightly updated versions of Marathon and Marathon 3 on the XBLA, like they did Durandal...

I think if they did make an updated version of Marathon, that they would make it even MORESO related to the Halo universe.

My "dream," I suppose you could say, is for them to update all three at once and put them in one set like The Orange Box from Valve.

The only thing about making a new "Marathon" is that it would just be the same as developing a new "Halo"... only with different graphics.

...did you ever play Marathon? It's gameplay was nothing at all like Halo's...while Halo was sort of a run and gun with strategic elements, Marathon was almost a first person RPG, in that there were very few enemies and it was really driven by your interaction with the terminals...

now, imagine the terminals actually talk to you, instead of you just having to read them, and add a leveling system for your character as you go along, with the same kind of frantic multiplayer that inspired Halo's, and you have a crazy cool new game that's very different from Halo.

Weird idea but, World Of Halo? Dunno, a story of the first spartans would be pretty cool. If they do, PLEASE make it 3rd person. I want to try somthing difrrent.

I would like to see a new main character, maybe a new spartan army(I would like a FPS that has up to 20 players, I would like it to have a whole army but only 20 players can play in campaign kinda like starwars battlefront but with more AI soldiers and the ability to create your character from the ground up. Like halo,SWRC,and SWBF. ok back to buisness ) . Halo may never end. Who says it has to. It may become like metroid.

If there must be more Halo shooters, I'd rather have Microsoft commission a non-Bungie FPS team like Starbreeze to do the game. I'd love to see Starbreeze's rendition of the Halo work. Their skill-display on Riddick and The Darkness was amazing.

In terms of the actual mechanics of the game it's virtually identical.

Most of the weapons from halo 1 are simply facelifted versions of the weapons from marathon

I really, highly doubt that will happen.

Halo Wars, the sequel to Halo 3, and something in between Halo Wars and Halo: CE

I actually believe it. Bungie has said again and again how they don't want to be pidgeonholed into Halo, but Microsoft (while eager to pursue new IPs) likely just wants them to continue Halo for the fact that it's single-handedly kicking everything's ass.

Microsoft knows they can get a publishing deal with any developer they want. Bungie is special, but to continue financing a 200+ man studio is a lot of overhead they may not need if they can just get Epic or Bioware to make games.
