Can Eris really be trusted?

Also, if we are killing Crota, shouldn't that cripple the Hive?

My problem is, we don't see what killing the Heart of Darkness does. Does this hurt the Darkness at all? Has the Traveler re-awoken? Is it healed? that's what the end of the game implied. We need to learn these things.

I seriously can't decide between doing the bounty for Thorn or Invective :/

I seriously can't decide between doing the bounty for Thorn or Invective :/

Invective is a darn sight easier to do but Thorn is the better gun if your playing PvP, so depends what you use more really, handcannons or shottys?

Thorn will take some work both with the PvP part and the final part unless you have some good high level friends to play with.

Destiny Expansion Annoys Xbox Owners

Destiny Guardians won’t be quite as legendary on the Xbox One or 360. Bungie has unveiled the PlayStation-exclusive content that’s coming to the game’s new expansion The Dark Below. PS4 and PS3 owners will get a special Strike where they can take on a deadly new boss known as The Undying Mind, and if you get into trouble, there’s also an exclusive new shotgun with four barrels. These are timed exclusives, so they will be made available for the Xbox versions in Fall 2015, but many Xbox fans are angry that they have to wait that long. Thankfully, all the other new weapons, gear, Strikes, and story missions will be available on all platforms when The Dark Below launches next week.
Here’s a look at the Playstation content:
First up, another exclusive Strike to face on Mars: The Undying Mind. You can step back into the coveted dangers of The Black Garden to face a timeless Vex machine-beast that has survived for ages. Prepare for firefights amidst vine-laden pillars and decaying paths in an effort to destroy the ancient evil.

And if you need more firepower to match your new foes, look no further than the PlayStation-exclusive exotic weapon coming to The Dark Below, The 4th Horseman shotgun. Four barrels, five shots, and a sizzlingly fast fire rate will eat away at the Vex legions in short order.

This game is 30 bucks at GameStop if anyone wants to try it out... A friend bought me the Xbox Version and actually having a group to do raids with actually helps.

Still not a game I'd pay more than 30 for.

Destiny's 10-year plan includes character-hopping to sequels

The strange approach of Destiny that has the game with one foot squarly planted in MMO territory and one firmly in the realm of standard console shooters has never been illustrated as strongly as in this story from IGN.

In the interview, Bungie said that players will be able to save and import characters and progress between Destiny and a proposed sequel while ignoring how MMOs simply build upon game worlds so that importing isn't necessary. One of the devs even expressed the revelation that players tend to form attachments to their avatars: "If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."

Bungie said it has "a 10-year plan for the expansion and evolution of this franchise."

So now when the weekly/nightfall strike happens if it is from the Dark Below DLC (like it is this week) and you don't have the DLC you are locked out of doing the weekly/nightfall for that week.

Thereby ensuring that you now progress slower without the DLC than with it.

I'm playing this again on Xbox One.. Game is so much better when you have two other buddies who are consistently playing. They leveled me from 9 to 19 in an hour and a half. I never had that on PS4.

Played through the 3 missions of the DLC, they are okay. You have to grind out a few extra bounties before you can unlock the Strikes, Weekly, and Nightfall, not that I took part in the Nightfall all that often. I assume the Raid unlocks once you get higher level (I'm still just 28).

I only have the DLC because I bought the special edition of the game initially, I probably wouldn't have paid for it individually.

I understand the reason the DLC locked out the weekly for people, but it obviously doesn't look great from the outset. Would it be smarter for them to make a separate Weekly and Nightfall for just the DLC? Maybe, but that would rotate through even less content.

You can buy Level 31 Hands and Boots without needing any special currency, the Helmet and Chest require new commendations to buy. Obviously the 32 gear is locked behind the raid. I still have yet to even try the first raid.

Why not just make a new name for DLC strikes and have those constantly in rotation, along side the heroics and nightfalls? Like you say it would rotate through less content but on the other hand you're just locking people out altogether from doing the weekly missions.

So are the new story missions different in any way from regular Destiny levels?

I'm sure the outcry will have them adjust it.

Two of the missions take place on Earth, 1 on the Moon. I will say the mission design feels like they took some of the criticism to heart:

1) More variety in enemy types/challenges, like a witch spawning enemies or not being able to boost jump, etc..
2) There aren't as many enter room, kill everything before you can move on moments. It feels like you keep moving through the levels.
3) Dinklage doesn't say a word.

One of the Earth missions takes place in a new-looking area, so there's at least a visual change.

Overall though, it's just more Destiny. The missions take less than an hour to get through (and as far as I can tell you can't even replay the first one). New currencies, new faction, blah blah.

I haven't tried the Strikes or Raid, I'm sure that's where the bulk of the work went into.

Yeah this is getting picked up by the news sites so I think you're right and they will end up changing it.

Your three bullet points sound good but that mission length being unchanged :( ...

I also just discovered you don't get engrams anymore from Pre-DLC Strikes.

So...

YEAH.

Welp mission accomplished Bungie, I am done with your game.

Bungie do seem to be trying to annoy people with this game and forcing them to either pay for DLC or just stop. Can only imagine how frustrating it must be to those that dont get the DLC.

I will say the new maps for PvP are nice but three short story missions doesnt seem like its going to win over those sitting on the fence about the DLC.

I will say tho.. If you're someone who is legit playing Desyiny every day still or every other day.. Or even a couple times a week.. Why the hell ARENT you getting the DLC? I mean if you're playing the game and plan on continue to do so.. Then buy the DLC.. If not then why *****? I don't understand.

Destiny isn't leaving players in the dark today; the game is actively sending players into the dark. Why? Because The Dark Below launches today, bringing along with it updates and expansions for several parts of the game along with some exclusive content for players who buy early and/or play on a PlayStation system.

The new content includes a new raid, three new competitive arena maps, new loot, new story missions, and another cooperative Strike. Players who purchase before January 15th, 2015, will also receive an exclusive vehicle, and PlayStation players get a special shotgun and access to an additional Strike exclusive to the platform. So if you're ready to start shooting the Hive in the darkest places you can think of, jump in today; we've placed the trailer just after the break.

Principles, I guess.

Honestly, I'd probably play Destiny if I had it, but I'll be damned before I let Activision hose me again. But if I received it for Christmas...

I think it's brilliant really. I mean, it's one thing to rip people off by making them pay full price for a game, and then asking them pay for content that should be in it. But now, they have to pay for content just to play the basic game.

It's just so incredibly underhanded.

This game becomes more and more ridiculous in its structure. I haven't touched the game in almost two months. I probably won't touch it again.

Meh, I'm having fun with it again. They're apparently going to be bringing in more story stuff with House of Wolves.. There's a few walls in the game that look to be bleeding into the world and we're gonna see enemies appear early from what I'm reading.

I'm also playing a Titan over a Warlock this time.. and while people say every class feels the same.. I disagree. I hated the Warlock but just didn't feel like rolling another character.

I almost went back to it, just to try the DLC. But after I read that non-DLC players basically get locked out of events this week, this quickly killed the mood.

How difficult is it to make 2 different map rotations? For those that own the DLC, and for those that don't?

I'd imagine a bit more difficult than we think. They obviously want players to buy the DLC. I've played many MP games that have said "Can not start match making because player(s) do not have required DLC" in my many years of gaming. I don't view this as anything new... I mean, everyone pimps their DLC. Plus when you go to bed with a ****e (Activision) expect to get the Herp. Bungie had to of known this going in. However with this new DLC I do feel they're listening to complains. I'm excited to see what House of Wolves brings.

I played some of the new Crucible maps last night. I like them. Different change of scenery.. they just need more big team maps. The Moon is my favorite MP map and it's NEVER in rotation.
