I think the article is pretty spot-on regarding BK's recent woes. I decided to go to BK a couple of weeks ago (after avoiding it for months), but I left pretty dissatisfied. The place looked old, the Whooper didn't taste very good, and there were sparse customers in the restaurant. The menu didn't really wow me, either. The problem is also there are enough In-N-Out restaurants around my workplace and they just have superior burgers over just about everybody else, including McDonald's, Wendy's, and definitely BK, so unless they are really good there's no reason to go there for lunch.

I pity you Carl's Jr is the opposite of BK for me, where everything on BK's menu has made me sick, there is NOTHING on CJrs menu I won't eat; and they have an entire second Mexican menu.

I go to Steak and Shake when I frankly just don't have any money. It's surprisingly edible.

Burger King is never as good as my fake/memory of Burger King food from the comercial that was on the VHS tape of TMNT2.

Even now thinking about that damn commercial gives me false hope.

Shakeshack in New York is probably one of the best franchise burgers I've ever had. Maybe even better than In-n-Out, which I also love.

In other burger news, tried Five Guys and was seriously disappointed after all the hype. The beef patty was limp and dry like an old man's.... er ....

BK is pretty awesome. McD's sucks.

There's a Five Guys like 20 minutes away in Morehead City. And a one opening soon on Cherry Point. Guess what? No drive thru, no service. If I'm gonna sit down & eat, I'll go to Buffalo Wild Wings 20 minutes away.

Hype: what about Hooters?

It closed down...they couldn't pay the money to "re-open" after remodeling. That Hooters was dead anyhow outside of NFL Sundays...
