BvS BvS: Early Tweet Discussion Thread (NO SPOILERS) - Part 4

This is a DC movie related reaction thread. Hence my focus on reacting to BvS related things, including DC fans, and their reactions to BvS. If this were a Marvel thread and I noticed something worth reacting to about Marvel fans, I would do it. But it's not. So what's the problem?

You're presenting this behavior as a specific problem with DC fans, when it is in fact a problem with fandom period. That's the problem. And if you weren't so biased, you'd know that it's not a matter of if you noticed something, because this kind of behavior is very apparent with some Marvel fans as well.

God, can we just get pass the whole "DC fans are bad" phase and just discuss BvS twitter reactions? There's little point in reminding us that there are crazies in the fanbase. Guess what, they exist in every conceivable fandom. If dumb post are bothering you, there's this nifty thing called an Ignore feature. Or the revolutionary tool that is scrolling through.

Axelrod, can you PM me the answer to whether or not we get to see the white Batman eyes in the standard cowl and when?

Pls and thank you.

@Axelrod On a scale of 1 to "Omg I'm dead, wow she's so gorgeous!!", how would you rate Gal based on what you saw in person? Did you talk to her? Was she as nice as she comes off in interviews?

Yea i can see why people would find her intimidating but it is just a matter of easing into conversation at which point you'll find "wow she's just a cool normal person!"

Then again, easier said than done. :woot:

Here's what the review said. Tried to take out any spoilers.

"-it was honestly ok. I enjoyed it but not as much as I had hoped.
-I still think it's worth seeing, but I think my hopes were too high. I was also on the red carpet and met the whole cast and had a great time, so maybe I was just riding too high on the moment?
-my issue with it is that the first 45 minutes/hour or so seemed sloppy to me. In general the plot was kind of meh. I actually found my mind wandering because the plot didn't engage me. They redeemed it a bit in the second half, but at that point I was already a bit underwhelmed.
-the action sequences were very cool and made up for the plot a bit
-there's some (certain sequences. think knightmare batman from trailers) that seemed really out of place
-Wonder Woman stole the show in our audience
-I was disappointed that (certain cameos) had about (certain number) total of screen time"

-------------------------------

"Not negative so much as average/above average. I'd give it a 7/10. And for reference, TDK is my favorite and is an 11/10 in my book. I don't have a preference between Marvel or DC, but if I had to pick a favorite superhero, it would be Batman. Not what you asked, but considering I didn't give it a glowing review and Batman is my favorite, that should tell you something."

Whoever wrote this was in fact there and is about 75% accurate with this.

The first 45 min might throw off some people who just expect the typical "BANG BANG CRASH ZIPP" experience and i kinda felt like that then i rememebered

"WAIT!!! , THEY ARE SETTING UP THE DCCU FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS! THIS IS SMART!!"

and it just escalated to 11.

How was the dialogue and interaction between characters? I noticed that you said nothing about that.

that actually sounds good to me; narrative needs to be built up, leading to action and confrontation. the degree of involvement/engagement with plot/drama is very subjective.

marvel fans can be nasty

jason inman he does work for collider arrow recap show and is apart of dc all access with tiffany smith he did a reaction video to civil war trailer and he did'nt care for it and his video got so many death threats that he had to block all comments and even did his own video in response to all the hate

I am glad that the movie is not a typical "Bang Bang Crash" experience. People would criticize the film for having a lack of substance in its plot.

So I see it's been mostly very positive. Got a good feeling about this.

You guys GET IT!!!

This was a very "NON SNYDER" zack snyder movie.

The writing was excellent. Tone was surprisingly very Batman Begins/ The Dark Knight-ish.

refreshing and took its time. Its the type of movie that you have to digest on multiple viewings to grasp every layer hence why I'm excited for my repeat viewing a 2nd time cause i know i will like it even more.

here's one guarantee for all my real , KEVIN SMITH- LEVEL Batman enthusiasts out there ( not the fly by night, newbies)

YOU WILL GEEK THE F$#@ out at certain points in the movie. TRUST!!!

you cant win with some people a film can have tons of fast pace and action and people will accuse it of no substance just style but if a film is very plot and character driven with lots of dialogue driven character moments then it is boring and too slow for them

i remember superman returns got bashed for superman never threw a punch then man of steel got accused of too much action when i heard that i was like

Man of Steel is infinitely better than Superman Returns, from my perspective.

This makes me hopeful. Would you say the film is a run of the mill action film? Or does Terrio able to incorporate some commentary or thought provoking questions like TDK did?

you hit it on the nail. its both with the ratio 75/25 in favor of terrio's writing.

Thank you so much. You've alleviated most of my fears. The other person suggesting TDK was their favorite film; I inferred that as an appreciation for good commentary and the inclusion of philosophical ideas. So when the person proceeded to say "the plot was meh" I was worried. I think I'm on board now.
