Geoff Johns apparently just confirmed (like 15 minutes ago, or so i'm hearing thru Twitter) he's going to be writing the Aquaman title starting right off where Brightest Day is ending, tho i believe Flashpoint will happen first and then the new titles come, who knows really! Geoff Johns will also write one more title, i bet that's Firestorm. Gotta give Martian Manhunter to Peter Tomasi. ;)

Interestingly enough Tony S. Daniel blogged about him helping to relaunch a non-Bat title (Click here for source) Johns and Daniel worked together on Teen Titans, but who knows who else is getting a title. Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, Aquaman and Hawkman seem to be the obvious ones since their characters and/or supporting cast has been touched upon.

Anyhow i still wish Johns hadn't killed off Garth to make room for the new Aqualad, but otherwise i'm liking how he's handled the Aqua-family so far.

Can you post the Tweets about this. I'd really hate to get amped up for this and then have it not turn out to be true.

Twitter search Megacon Aquaman/Aquaman or simply Megacon and you should get these. I do find it strange how Newsarama, Bleeding Cool or even CBR haven't said anything.

Well in case that it is true, I think that this picture would be appropriate:

Yessssssssssssss! Great start to my birthday (well, it's not for another hour. But still counts!).

Are Aquaman and Hawkman the only officially announced post-Brightest Day books?

None of them have been officially announced, but it's been leaked that we're getting a Firestorm book (a writer whose name I forget turned down the assignment) and a Hawkman book by James Robinson and Philip Tan. Now apparently we're also getting an Aquaman book and it's very safe to assume that the Martian Manhunter will get one as well.

We're receiving this trade of Aquaman also:

I met Skeats at Canandaigua Comic Con. He said that working on Aquaman was great with Jim Aparo.

ALso Johns has confirmed that the rumors are true!

I enjoy this news, for the most part. I haven't been reading BD, though, so I don't know where my overall expectations lie. But this appeals to me

Green Lantern, the Flash, and Aquaman at the same time? Seems like a bit much for Johns.

...I mean, "writing them," not...nevermind.

Is it possible he'll be off of GL by that point, maybe? But if not, that is true, three books along with his other DC upper management stuff does seem like a lot to juggle.

Doubt it, Johns has been on record saying that he's with the Flash and Green Lantern for long term still. Johns has also said that he's capable of handling two monthlies plus a couple of minis, even with his role of CCO at DC.

Now that Brightest Day is ending, and it can be safe to assume that Johns is mostly done with Batman: Earth One and all we have to do is wait for Gary Frank, this frees him up quite a bit. Maybe he's done with minis for the time being in favor of more monthly ongoings.

If the Flash isn't the other new ongoing that Johns mentions, it would be Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, and something else.

I was gonna say that john's workload would pretty much be the same since brightest day came out twice a month, but tomasi helped co write BD and John's is working on Flashpoint as well.

I wouldnt be surprised if he were writing one of the books for only an arc or so. I think he'll def stick to Aquaman for sure, if only so he can write Mera, lol

Yeah, that's basically what he did with Adventure Comics. I could see something like that, get it off the ground and hand it off to someone else on the mid-tier to handle it longer term.

I would hope he sticks with Aquaman for a very lengthy arc showcasing us how awesome Aquaman & Aqualad team up could be (the Underwater Dynamic Duo with a twist how Aqualad has an evil daddy) alongside with Mera the great queen and so forth.

Really Aquaman needs a dedicated writer so i'd feel Johns wanting to stick long, so he can work out villains like Ocean Master, Fisherman and the Awesome Threeesome!!!!!!

I hope they continue to make Mera a big part of the book.

Tron Bonne while you haven't read BD just know this: what Aquaman needs to be successful is not just a dedicate route to go in but one by a writer who is passionate about the character and his mythos and Johns made it very clear he is in Aqua-mania.

Well, that's good then. I hope Aqua-mania runs wild.

Yeah, I'm hoping that Johns' run on Aquaman will be more long term like the Flash, JSA, and Green Lantern as opposed to extremely short ones like Adventure Comics, Booster Gold, and Superman.

Aquaman and Johns is awesome because it will sell I just hope he can be creative with the character and not tread familiar paths with him.

He'll just do an arc like Booster Gold or Adventure Comics.

And after that, Warren Ellis will stop telling stories where the main character is a chain-smoking *****ebag, and Mark Millar will start writing comics that don't end with a full-page spread calling the reader an idiot.
