Is anyone else getting beyond tired of Networks and Cable companies complaining about the progress of online tv show viewing? It seems like everytime I check out the news (on the internet! ooooh I know companies would prefer we go back to reading good old fashion newspapers) there's always some cable network or tv network complaining how progress is taking away their business.

Rather than adjusting and growing with progress, they are determined to keep their heads in the sand and cling to the rotting, bloated corpse that is traditional tv till the very end. Taking many good shows with them.

How much longer do you think this will go on before companies have no choice but to evolve? It's a shame that good shows have to suffer because of it and the archaic and outdated Nielsen ratings system.

What would it take to force these guys to evolve?

It comes down to money. There's actually no money in online viewing. Advertisers pay more on tv ads than ads on online viewing.

Personally, I like watching tv on a tv. It's odd and bit uncomfortable and cheap looking online. What needs to happen is a new better rating system that focuses on tv viewing, dvr/TiVo viewing, and more online. TV should always be around on TV, but Hollywood needs to...get the...ads prices to go up a bit online. TV is run by ad pricing. Nothing wrong with that. The rating system is outdated.

The future of television is ON DEMAND. The reason why DVRs and Online Streaming is so popular is because the viewer chooses WHEN to watch a program. Your life no longer has to revolve around a TV schedule. The days of, "oh, man, I don't want to miss that" are over. Network and Cable need to realize that. The ON DEMAND technology is already available. It's time for them to figure out a way to make it the standard.
