I'm surprised that there is no thread about this new Starz series yet. Here's the synosis:

In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new king, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur’s harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know…this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before

Here's the cast:

  • Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur
  • Joseph Fiennes as Merlin
  • Eva Green as Morgan :awesome:
  • Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere
  • Peter Mooney as Sir Kay
  • Clive Standen as Gawain
  • Claire Forlani as Queen Igraine
  • Sinéad Cusack as Sybil
  • Sebastian Koch as King Uther
  • Philip Winchester as Leontes
  • James Purefoy as King Lot
  • Diarmaid Murtagh as Brastias
  • Sebastian Spence as Sir Lucan
  • Tyler Kennington as Albion
  • Jamie Downey as Ulfius
  • Lara Jean Chorostecki as Bridget
  • Daragh O'Malley as Leodegrance
  • Sean Pertwee as Ector
  • Colin Maher as Duke of Cornwall

Isn't there supposed to be a preview this weekend?

Yeah, Starz is free this weekend for Directv subscribers. I'll give this a view Friday.

Is this going to be like a sex heavy series like Spartacus?

If so then I think Ill skip it.

Not that I mind sex scenes and all the other good stuff, but I just dont really want to see an Arthurian series with gangbangs and orgies.

wow, thanks for this thread. I am definitely going to check it out. I do hope the show captures the violence and depravity of the times. These are after all supposed to be a dark times in European history and not a prim and proper, civilized culture.

I just wish they would have a more historically accurate depiction of women in these times. Most of them weren't skinny, nor did they all look like super models. They also didn't have as many rights or equal voice like they tend to do in movies and shows.

If there is no sex with Eva Green in the cast, I'd be very disappointed. :o

So, did anyone check out the preview?

I saw it. It was okay. I wasn't blown away but it was a solid intro. I was wondering if they'd keep Arthur's conception from the story and they did. I'm curious to how Excalibur will be introduced.

I liked it as well. I know the pilot wasn't all that impressive, but neither was the one for Spartacus.

Pretty good first episode. Better than 'Merlin' at any rate.

Good first episode. If the quality of this show increases with every episode the way Spartacus did this will be a good series. And, to those wondering, there was only one sex scene, and it wasn't gratuitous. I doubt they will take the roman approach in this show.

Eva Green made everyone proud with that sex scene.

Missed it but I will watch it tomorrow. I am already a fan of the BBC & Syfy show. So lets see how this one is

Yeah, I think so.

Is this episode available on netflix? Most Starz tv shows are, like Spartacus.

It should be. After everything she did in The Dreamers this should all be tame for her.

Yeah, The Dreamers wasn't a good movie, but she made it enjoyable (or at least tolerable) to watch. I hope Starz will stream Camelot like they did for Spartacus.

Well, this is the most useless depiction of Merlin I've ever seen.

Really IMO the best version of King Aurthur I have seen is the one with Clive Owen. I mean for that movie they based Aurthur off of the historical documents they have found on him. Which IMO is something fresh and new. I mean there are documents supporting the fact that King Aurthur was a real person why not try and go from there like the movie did and see where it gets you.

We see a little bit of Eva in the first episode. Hopefully there will be more later.

The first episode didn't blow me away like Spartacus. I'm hoping it will get better later. I'll still probably tune in. The kid that plays Arthur doesn't impress me that much.

I think the kid that plays Arthur was from Twilight.
