The Dark Knight Rises Campaign: Villainesses For Justice!

It seems to me that the new Batman Begins movies are gonna be a strictly "Boy's Only" affair, which is terrible news for someone like me (and millions of others) who LOVE the villainesses of Gotham like Catwoman and Poison Ivy! I'm making a personal plea to Chris Nolan (or any of the other filmmakers reading this): Please please PLEASE start including the female villains in the next Batman movies! It just ain't the same without a sexy b!tch in high heels kicking butt and being bad! Buy back the character copyright from Halle Berry or whatever you have to do, but you HAVE to get Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the movies and do her justice! Also, Poison Ivy would be a brilliant character to explore under the new "dark and gritty" image, as (unlike Uma Thurman's "drag queen" portrayal), she's a really twisted, psychotic, dark character with serious emotional problems.

Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, etc - will we ever see you on the big screen again?!

I kinda agree with you. It sucks that the ladies won't get much limelight here but then I'm glad that the franchise begun with Scarecrow and Ra's and that Joker and Dent will get their own movies. Too many villains is definitely not cool.

But if I had to guess either way I'd say that Catwoman in movie3 is more likely than not. Movie three will need something *new* on level that the Joker was 'new' for TDK. Two-Face alone cannot fill the same quota that a third movie needs.


I love Poison Ivy, she is my mistress and damn I wish she could get in one these movies. I hope the new franchise around 2015 retains some of Nolans 'serious' edge to it.

I agree with you. But we gotta let the studios know that we really want these villainesses in the movies, then maybe they'll listen to us (fans can have a big influence on directors pre-production).

Good Luck with your plea dude but I'm pretty sure there wont be any female villains in Nolans franchise porbably the same reason there aren't in Raimi's spiderman franchise.

I agree with you on this, I like to see Selina Kyle/Catwoman introduced in near end of TDK or Batman 3. I hope Nolan does not rule her out and she is my favourite Gotham woman.

Yeah I think they might seriously consider Talia because she's less of a "costume character" and the relationship between her and Batman is full of dark, emotional stuff. I still want Catwoman though, followed by Poison Ivy! But I can't think of any other mainstream Gotham villainesses apart from the ones mentioned. Marsha Queen of Diamonds, perhaps? lol

Ok, so if they were gonna put Catwoman in the new Nolan movies, she'd obviously be a bit of a martial artist right? So do you think they should go with the whole Capoeira thing like they did with Halle Berry, or do you think she should be more a Kung Fu fighter? Karate? Tae Kwon Do? Ninjitsu perhaps? Free-running and Parkour would be pretty cool!

Since we already have Joker, Harley Quinn seems like the most logical first villainess to me. I also wouldn't mind Poison Ivy following close after so that they could have the Harley and Ivy relationship from the comics...and maybe a little you-know-what.

Yeah I agree, I want a little Harley Quinn action in The Dark Knight movie! Then I want Selina Kyle/Catwoman to be a big part the next movie, then Poison Ivy in the one after that! They can do two villains per film e.g. Catwoman and Two Face, but they don't have to team up like in Batman & Robin or anything! lol! They can have their own separate storylines that Batman has to deal with individually.

But for the love of humanity Chris Nolan, from one Brit to another, don't leave us Catwomanless, Poison Ivyless or Harley Quinnless for too long!!!

Yes, Catwoman is my ultimate Gotham girl too! And I'd like to see her fight like a cross between Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux and Trinity in The Matrix! That'd be so cool! And they've gotta use this new free-running/parkour thing to explain how she can run around rooftops and jump across buildings and stuff!

Costume-wise, I'd like to see her in a dark purple catsuit to start off with, and then lead up to the Ed Brubaker costume - but without the goggles! There is a youtube film of the Batman stunt show at Six Flags Great Adventure, in which Catwoman appears in the Brubaker costume (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNxREdvbjts). So it can be done!

I'd like to see Catwoman appear as an anti-hero. Kind of like she does in The Long Halloween, Dark Victory and Hush. To me, she's always been more intersting working both sides of the law rather than being strictly evil or strictly good. Also, she kind of goes with Batman. It's hard to imagine Batman today with out her. IMO, she's just as important to Batman as Alfred or The Joker.

Really? I always thought Talia was kinda boring in comparison to Catwoman, Poison Ivy etc. But I suppose she is more realistic, so Chris Nolan might be more willing to put her in his films. Any suggestions for who would be ideal to play her?

And she's certainly a lot more exciting than Alfred lol!

I agree about the anti-heroine thing - I think she should have that complexity about. But I don't want her to be too tame like Gina Gershon's Catwoman in "The Batman" cartoons! I want her to have more of a wild and unpredictable streak, dangerous even, kinda like Adrienne Barbeau's Catwoman in The Animated Series and the comicbook character who wore the purple catsuit with loose black hair.

Ah, well Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman was marvellous. But a lot of people did feel that it wasn't a true representation of the comic book character (nor was ghastly Halle Berry's), so many people are still waiting to see their ideal Catwoman on screen.

When I say Catwoman is more exciting than Talia I mean generally that Catwoman wears a fabulous costume, does gymnastics and other stunts, wields a whip etc, whereas Talia just looks like an ordinary woman in a dress with a gun. She's more like a Bond villainess than a comic book character. Maybe she could be played by Eva Green?

whats the point of this thread? im not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, or maybe i have missed something, but the second movie hasnt even been filmed yet and there is a thread complaining about the lack of female villains. if there had been like 4-5 movies this would make sense to me to complain about, but not after 1.5
