Why? Because the guy you personally wanted didn't get the part? The only reason you want him is for looks alone, and that is not the only reason to cast someone for a part.

A lot of people on these boards have agreed that while he looks the part, Cassel also has an incredibly thick french accent, one that would be difficult for anyone to get rid of. Take that and the fact that nobody has ever heard him pull of an american or even a "less french" accent, and you have a problem.
