Superman Returns Can Lex "grow" Kryptonite?

Hey all,
This may have been discussed before and if so, please close/delete.
I just watched the trailer again and noticed something that brought up an idea I had thought about earlier. I am wondering if parts of New Krypton are actually made of Kryptonite. There is a scene in the trailer right before Lois says something to the effect of "It's radioactive pieces of his homeworld." that I THINK shows a crack or fissure of some sort in new Krypton that is glowing green (if I knew how to capture the video for that frame I would). It would make sense if Lex tried to do this so that Supes is in a weakened state whenever he visits new Krypton and also may account for him being weakened state and falling to Earth after
lifting New Krypton into space.
If that is what happens. Please discuss. :D

That's right.

No better way to almsot end this Movie then Superman almost killing himself publically saving Metropolis. I am sure eventually Singer will do a "Superman Day" Parade type thing in a Sequel

and then we'll start seeing posts about how Singer ripped off Raimi's Spider-man 3. :p

this was from the novel:
yes Lex can "grow" kryptonite, he did it by merging Superman's crystal (the one that built the FOS) with kryptonite, then threw it to the ground (or was that the ocean floor?) to make NK. the green kryptonite thing you saw in the trailers is NK emerging from the earth's crust

I think it looks like Superman is dying to save ppl, the same what Jessus did

It is EPIC!

Or The Lion from Narnia!

That was a smart move by Lex. Plus it should be intersting because Superman is going to have to pull off this amazing feet which is literally killing him

Yes, a really smart move. Because everyone would come to the conclusion that merging a green crystal with Kryptonite would cause a new Kryptonite continent to appear...
Nevertheless, I'm somewhat eager to see the film. Unfortunately, it's going to be a long time before it arrives here...

I would make a bold guess that you haven't seen the movie yet, right? ;)
Lex DISCOVERED a special quality of seed crystals during the accident in the basement, in addition to getting info from the FOS database and applied the knowledge in the best way possible. He actually explains it to Supes while kicking his a** around NK.

what are you talking about? (highlight to read) kryptonite doesn't cause the continent to grow. he merged the crystals he used to grow the continent with the kyrptonite. that way the planet is now part kryptonite. that way if Superman lands on it, he's screwed. Pretty smart to me.

In the novel Lex explains
that crystals often take properties of the minerals etc that are found around them. What he does is drill a little hole in the "seed" crystal and inserts a shard of kryptonite so that every crystal that grows takes on some of the properties of kryptonite. So pretty much all of Nk is packed with the stuff.

Correct.
If you watch the International trailer,
when the missile opens underwater and the crystals start growing, you can catch a glimpse at the FOS crystal imbedded in the middle of the green kryptonite cylinder (which was seen in Lex' hand in the First Domestic trailer...)

Ah, so the technology used for the creation of NK is actually Kryptonian, right? Thanks for clearing that up, that actually sounds better.

So, as I've lost track of certain things, does this technology have anything to do with the Eradicator?

The water causes the crystals to react and grow. Its not the kryptonite its not even the crystal itself.

In the basement lex
takes a small sliver of the crystal, and has his man stanford drop it in the little pond of the model.

Really? Hm... so, Spider-Man 3 is a rip off Superman III.

Its just me or someone else notice how spider-man movies follow the same formula of Superman movies? Its amazing...

Regards,
Sam

Superman 3 was different. He split in half and fought himself.....literally. SM3 will focus on Peter's inner turmoil and he will fight himself emotionally while trying to deal with his bestfriend's issues and keeping his girlfriend safe. The Spider-man stories in the movies compared to the Superman movies is much deeper. Another thing is that MJ knows. The Superman movies never were gutsy enough to let Lois know who Superman was (and no Superman 2 doesn't count).

Hey, I have the same feeling

Spidey 1 - Love story with action and campy villian

Spidey 2 - more action and dramatic scenes

Spidey 3 - new love story and 4 villians

I think Spidey 1 and 2 were following Superman movies, but 3rd also icluded B&R.

Besides, Stacey works as Lana was.

And I dont like what is happening now with Spidey 3. 4 villians??? It is rediculous. It means more action and less sense.

Terrible :down

But I enjoyed Spidey 1 and 2 :)

WOW

So it means that water has influence on kryptonite? Very logical strategy.

The Gwen story was a lot different than the Lana story. Gwen's death taught Peter he could never love without risk(or at least be in a relationship), Lana was just a girl Clark used to like who came between him and Lois. And about the whole 4 villains thing here's what I think:
Venom(in the end)
GG2
Sandman (small part)
and
evil Spider-man
