What's that? Canadians? Hypesters? Comic nerds? You kind of lost me there, terry.
Nerds in general.
It's true of Christianity too in their zeal to "spread the word" or attempt to convert others almost always comes from those who are newly converted as opposed to those who were either raised in it or have long held the beliefs themselves.
There's a psychological need behind it but I can't think of the term used for it.
I suppose everyone feels at odds with the rest of the world sometimes. The difference, I suppose, is that your average nerd is not narcissistic enough to try to take violent retribution for perceived sleights.
I forget, but you're basically describing people who are insecure and emotionally needy. They need acceptance in order to feel a sense of validation. That acceptance can come in the form of a relationship, religion, cult, a militia, whatever. Basic psychology 101.
I brought up Christianity because it's almost exclusively looked at as a "Muslim problem" where there are plenty of Christian extremists out there who while they haven't done anything this extreme yet are still willing to go to war with whoever is offending them.I forget, but you're basically describing people who are insecure and emotionally needy. It all boils down to that need to be a part of a group and to have others in your group. Unfortunately religion of any sort is often used as a recruiting tool to those most vulnerable to manipulation.
That is why we have Muslim terrorist groups and we have "home grown" paramilitary groups who like to live in the woods and proclaim how the government is out to take their guns and rights away. Most of those right wing extremist groups utilize a twisted interpetation of the Bible much like these Muslim extremists twist the Koran.
Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins fans are standing and singing the Canadian national anthem tonight. The terrorists who thought this would weaken our collective resolve just **** themselves.
, but overall they [Christians] have not produced terrorism on the scale of Al Qaeda, ISIS and other radical Islamic groups. That's just a fact.

Okay, this thread title would only work if someone invaded Canada. Like the Russians. Or America. Or maybe aliens.
In America we call this a slow news day.
