Raimi isn't a consistently good judge of quality. Oz: The Great & Powerful had a bad script and two miscast leading actors (James Franco and Mila Kunis).

But then again he was butting heads with Avi Arad during development on SM-4, who should've stepped aside considering Raimi's success with the previous three films.

Seemed like it, as he was just appearing in a montage among other throwaway villains like Shocker, Rhino, etc.

The cool thing about it though is that it confirmed Bruce as Quentin Beck in the moment his helmet falls off and he gets laughed at. Meaning all the cameos of the previous films would've served a purpose (specifically Spider-Man 2, where he told Peter to be quiet in the theater as it "helps maintain the illusion".)

Mysterious' treatment has Raimi written all over it. Silly goose. Vulturess? Yikes. Not to mention how Toomes himself looks in that concept art, I wouldn't want another overly goofy villain design like they did with GG in SM1. Black Cat? Yes, more love triangle, because that worked so well before. What else - what else....
