Besides watching an occasional Star Trek episode, there's NO reason to watch Spike anyway. Blade the series had serious potential. Now, all Spike offers are dumb ass wrestling and ultimate fighter hugging and bad James Bond films. I'll pass.

I'm not sure that would've prevented Blade from getting the ax IMO. I think the Spike suits wanted mega-ratings and I don't think that was possible coming out the gate for several reasons. Plus, premiering Blade on the night of Superman Returns wasn't a good idea. I also don't think Spike showed the Blade's ad nauseam like some cable channels do their signature shows so that it's more accessible to fans and potential fans. That's how I became a fan of The Shield, Nip/Tuck, and probably a few other shows, just by channel surfing.

To me, the Spike execs were jumpy from the get go, and were ready to pull the cord from jump. They weren't thinking long term. Blade wasn't the type of show to build a network around IMO. However, since the deed had been done, Spike could've at least went for the horror market, and gave Blade some nicely themed run-ins. Old horror movies, or TV shows like Friday the 13th, Werewolf, Kindred, Ultraviolet, Nightstalker, etc.

Spike canning Blade is a huge mistake.
Blade gets cancelled, yet shows like The Dudesons stays on the air.

If Spike wanted to be taken seriously as a network they should have stuck with Blade. You need to build a schedule somewhere and Blade could have been the series to do that. Oh well, maybe Stan will make some new episodes of Striperella.

I'd venture to guess the production cost is what killed the show more than the ratings, just like Fastlane on Fox a few years back. Fastlane drew very well, but the $2 mil. an episode price tag scared Fox off, and it probably scared Spike off of Blade for the long haul.

I say good for SpikeTV.

More proof that this franchise is nothing without Wesley Snipes. Trinity tanked, and hence so did the Nightstalker crap. The series tanked.

As a Blade fan, I'm happy this series is gone.

Dedicate this opened up time to TNA wrestling along with more re-runs of The Shield. The Shield is not shown on Spike TV enough.

Hallelujah. This is what you get for casting some random rapper/thug as Blade.

Also to those of you crapping on Spike. They spent a ton of money on this show. They are already paying heavily for that.

I find it hilarious that the show got great ratings but they were unhappy with them because 40% of the audience was women.
