Watching TDK again recently, when Dent is seen briefly holding the marked bills from the bank that Batman used his radioactive scanner gadget on or whatever that was, could Dent or even anyone else who touched those bills be prone to getting cancer or other radiation-borne illnesses? Granted the radiation level would be small but wouldn't it still be dangerous and possibly a cancer risk? I'm not an expert on radiation so I wouldn't know, but I get the impression the bills would have some radioactive particles staining them. I know with things like X-rays it's different since lead shielding is used to protect from the rays when they scan you. I'm thinking the bills probably couldn't have been contaminated with radioactivity since the radioactive energy the scanner device emits probably would only give out a certain amount, but I still find it something to ponder.

You can use a small amount for tracking...it wouldn't be dangerous at all.

Such small radiation can't kill you and the thing Batman used is called geiger counter

Of course I think that OSHA would still be on Batman for using such a thing. :funny: I've handled tritium (hydrogen-3), which is very VERY weakly radioactive. So weak that we don't have to use shields for it. But we still have to use gloves and mark the sinks we use to clean the stuff that's touched it. :funny:

In my current lab, we use potassium-32 which is a little more radioactive, but a thick sheet of acrylic shields it 100%.

Of course I figure Batman wouldn't let a little OSHA get in his way. If anything, he probably marked them by lightly spraying the bills with tritiated water.

Yeah, but guys....there was so much money there.

Only some of the bills were marked, and they were left behind in the vault, remember?

Gordon: "All that was left in the vault were marked bills"

No...I didn't remember that, thanks.

Shame Joker left those bills behind in hindsight since if they had been in the rest of the pile they would have burned then the people would have inhaled the smoke and boom, Joker just gave you cancer and killed you 20 years down the road. The fiend.
