The Winter Soldier Captain America 2: News and Speculation - Part 5

Before I log off and forget this: There is a follow up to the story of the adorable little boy who had his photo taken with Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston on the New York set of The Avengers. The parents of that young man, Edison, stayed in touch with Chris's mom, Lisa Evans. Ms. Evans has always seemed very kind and generous to fans, as is her son, and this story bears that out. If this doesn't warm your heart and put a smile on your face you're even more cynical than I am.

Captain America Motivates The World’s Youngest Avenger

As pictures of Edison on Tom Hiddleston’s shoulders and posing with Chris Evans continue to make the rounds on the Internet, via various memes, tweets and websites, I thought it would be good to give an update about the after effects of the original story.

Shortly after the article appeared on g33kWatch, I received an email from one Lisa Evans.

Yes. Lisa Evans, aka Chris Evans’ mom.

She spoke kindly about Edison and Jill and talked about her own memories of that day on the set of The Avengers. She also extended the offer to get what we were unable to at Comic Con — Chris Evans’ signature. I appreciated the offer but didn’t want to seem pushy so I never really followed up with her on that.

A few months later, as we were packing up our house to move across country, I found Edison’s Captain America shield. It was now more battered, bruised and scratched up since that fateful day in September. I asked him if he would want to have Chris Evans autograph the shield. Edison said “yes.”

I worked out details with Lisa and prepared to mail the shield, along with one of the pictures I had found online of Chris and Edison. Edison also took the time to draw a picture that he thought would maybe make a good plot for a future Marvel movie. He drew a picture of Captain America and Hulk fighting against Red Skull. I’d pay to see that.

My wife headed out West to set up our new home while we remained in New York to finish up packing and moving. One day, she called me up, excited with something that had shown up in the mail. We weren’t going to tell Edison about it until he and I arrived a few weeks later. So, sure enough, Edison and I fly out to California, and walk in to our new family home. Jill was very excited as we entered Edison’s new bedroom. There on the wall were three framed items: Edison’s original shield, a picture of Captain America himself and ‘lil Cap, and a brand new shield!

The new shield was signed “To Edison — Here’s a new one from my collection!!” The picture read, “Thanks for the drawing.” Finally, the original, beat-up shield had what may be the best message for a young kid to hear from one of their heroes; “Dream big!” Every morning when he gets up, Edison gets to see these awesome gifts, and read that amazing message that will hopefully inspire him to do great things. My hope is that if he ever comes up against an obstacle or something that seems to hard, he can remember what Captain America told him to do.

Awww!

I love Chris and his mom! Both so super sweet and nice, especially to Chris' younger fans!

I just threw up in my mouth ....

This movie does not need that. That would be pandering and veer off the path of what this movie is.

There's no time for love. They've got [CENSORED] to avenge.

Grillo tweeted out:

"Patience to all #Rumlow"

around 2pm today so I'm assuming we'll see him either in the movie or on set as "crossbones."

just wanted to post that since no one has, don't wanna comment on all this love interest stuff, matters 0% to me who or what it is or if there is one, reading people arguing about it makes me care even less lol. Carry on :D

besides Sif obviously giving someone side eye?

A lot of people *assume* she's looking at Jane. But that's a huge assumption.

It's much more likely that she's glaring at Loki, while escorting him to/from his cell. Or maybe at Malekith. Or Kurse. Until we see a scene that actually shows Sif accompanying Jane in Asgard, I'm not believing in the jealousy angle that the fans seem intent on.

You mean like turning Pepper Potts into the major love interest for Tony Stark? Or having Thor whisk his beloved Jane away to Asgard to be his queen? Again: welcome to Hollywood, folks. It is what it is.

So we've hated humor for awhile, and now we hate romance?

Seems like we're running out of things to put in our movies other than people punching one another.

I mean, God forbid we try to attract a broader audience.

Again, I have absolutely no problem with a Cap/Widow romance, as long as the relationship makes sense in the movie and is constructed well.

However, I really don't think that will turn out to be the case. The simplest way to go about this would be...

Cap meets, gets to know and subsequently develops feelings for "Agent 13" without knowing that she is Peggy's grand-niece. The feeling, of course, is mutual. Sharon doesn't divulge her lineage till later since she thinks it will turn Cap away.

When she finally reveals that she is, yes, "that Carter", Cap feels a little betrayed, but gets over it pretty quickly.

Yeah seriously. I must've skipped 2-3 pages and you guys are still arguing about it. Who gives a ****?? Can we please return to talking about the movie?

Pictures of Falcon swooping in on site that will not be named

AWWWW lol I can sort've relate, I scared the heck out of my Daughter in a Bats cape when she was 2 just after she saw Bela Lagosi's Dracula, NOW she's 19 and loves Batman and Vampire films hahaha

Oh don't get me wrong; I love a good romance. I'm just tired of triangles. Don't really want one in this movie.

We are nerds of action, we do not want to make merry while wearing our subtle costumes, and wenches are merely there to bring the ale!

he's got a wire on him.... I bet Falcon will snatch him up...or try

On his bike, shield on back, but looks like he's in uniform?
