X-Men and X2 are in my top 10 CBMs of all time, but I loathed Last Stand and Origins and was pretty meh on First Class, so I feel this. I'll check out The Wolverine when it comes out on DVD for sure, because I have to see every CBM that comes out. I love Jackman's dedication to Logan; he makes a great Wolverine. It does seem like this movie does give him more to work with though, judging by the online responses.

Also, TW actually passed Bechdel, which the MCU aside from Thor has yet to do.

I'm hoping CA:TWS gives us some good scenes with the females that pass the test. I mean, if Wolverine and Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters can do it...

I could see Wolverine in Avengers....but not Spider-Man. Didn't even work in the comics.

So we all agreed that Fury is Ultron who was programmed to think he was the Red Skull who happens to be played by Redford who's character's middle name is Bechdel?

Whew, glad we cleared that up.

Because it shows that the writers are more concerned with female characters as they relate to the story rather than how they relate to their male counterparts.

It means the writers actually took time to develop female characters into a role other than love interest or eye candy

I think Iron Man III passed, just. Maya and Pepper talk about Extremis for a bit.

Yeah, I think it did, barely.

MoS, for all I didn't like about it also passed.

Bechdel is important to develop female characters beyond the standard love interest/sex object role in a movie. I mean, it's a very simple threshold to pass: two women, having a convo that doesn't revolve around a man.

Yet movies fail it time and time again. And male characters have convos after convos that revolve around everything. Yet women cannot be developed the same? Come on.

Studios need to start recognizing that better developed female characters and stories will help their movies, not continually pigeonholing women into predetermined roles. (Same with actors of color too... I want a darn hero of color comic book movie!!)

I really hope that the Russos pass Bechdel since there are several kickass women in this movie. I would kill for a Widow/Sharon or Widow/Hill or Widow/Sharon/Hill/Peggy/Whatever scene!

To spice it up: they could take place in Victorian era England. Have Alfred and Widow in it. Oh and have magicians in it. How about a cloning machine for extra flavor?

And some of you will loathe this: it shall be directed by Chris Nolan.

Well they can easily do that with Natasha and Maria. They just need to talk about work stuff at a point in the movie. :yay:

Had anyone been watching this Disney Fandom thing? I have and so far no trailer or teaser. Some of their specials have snippets and interviews from SDCC. They showed some concept arts and videos, but nothing we haven't seen.

    A new Robert Redford theory.

So....we know Alexander Pierce is a high ranking SHIELD exec. Possibly even Director, if Fury gets kicked to the curb. One would expect that such an august personage would have access to LMDs.

So....suppose one such Alexander Pierce LMD gets hacked. By, say, a rogue AI named Arnim Zola. Pierce LMD murders Pierce IRL and takes his place.

    That we've *seen.*
But they exist, because Tony Stark can joke about them.

For someone who doesn't like Zola you seem to have him part of many of your theories.

I think it's mainly because Sam doesn't want Tony to create Ultron and he sees Zola as the viable option that can prevent a plot point he hates.
