The MCU is a smaller place these days. We'll see if Doomsday/Secret Wars/X-Men/F4 can boost it back up again but a tough road ahead.

Going back to 2 movies per year would do wonders for them. Disney+ should seek their other ips and create new ones, instead of relying so much with original Marvel production for their new straight to streaming content.

Nova when it comes out in the future, I don't think many people would still care, compare to when Loki/Moon Knight came out for the first time. Wonder Man is another project that would just come and go. I think by late 2025/early 2026, most of the public would just wait for Doomsday/Spider-Man 4 and watch the previous movies available on Disney+. Rather spend some time watching and get invested to Wonder Man/Ironheart.

Would the box office have likely been higher had it released say in April instead of February?

It varies. Quantumania opened over $100 million and couldn't even clear $250 million in North America. Other movies with legs that opened within $100 million tripled their opening weekend, by the end of their run. Worldwide, Quantumania didn't hit $500 million.

Because it fizzled out after the tepid word of mouth.

I dont think the 3 movies a year is too much. Phase 3 did that for many years, and the movies were largely very good or great. What they need to do is focus the TV department and the movie department different places. Like focusing on the Defenders and such on D+ is a great idea. Cheaper characters, if you want a movie character they can make a guest spot for an episode, etc. Keep them doing their thing and focus the movies with the characters we know and the new stars we are trying to make. That's the issue. The movie and TV departments need focus.

Captain America: Brave New World vs Eternals.

Captain America: Brave New World (2025)
Boxofficemojo
Domestic Box Office $100,021,014
Worldwide $198,291,606

Alot of box office types are comparing brave new world opening weekend and box offfice to ant man 3. The difference is that ant man 3 had a higher budget.
Eternals should be compared just as much or more so to captain america 4 because it open higher then eternals and eternals still made it to 400 million.
If captain america 4 manages to stay ahead of eternals worldwide by 24 million or more but not make into ant-man 3 numbers($476,071,18) then captain america 4 will break even and could even make a profit since the budget is 180 million and the break even point as been revealed to be 425 million.
Also let us not forget Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Opening weekend was less the captain amerca 4 and aquaman 2 made it to $439,381,226 Worldwide.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Domestic box office
Opening weekend: $28.1 million in the United States
Four-day holiday weekend: Estimated $40 million

International box office
Opening weekend: $80.1 million
Global: $108.2 million

Perhaps Eternals is the best film comparison.
But, I hope BNW fares better.

I doubt it. Eternals make more in international market, this film will make less in international than domestic, a lot less I venture to predict. It will be under $400m, it will be a notable loss but at least will not be an embarrassing and historic loss like the Marvels. How much Disney’s board will continue to tolerate MCU movie losses is another topic.

Eternals did not have china plus brave new world international opening is larger.
Worldwide opening box office is larger too.
It has a chance to beat eternals international box office but who knows.
It could past 400 million and break even or make a profit.

That's going to depend on the film's legs, and between the Cinemascore and mixed reception, this could plummet on its second weekend. We will see.

At first glance it seems that this might have a hard time cracking 200M Domestic so yeh when it’s all said and done this should finish around 400M worldwide.

CAPTAIN AMERICA BRAVE NEW WORLD Box Office Projections Suggest Second Weekend Drop, But It's Not All Bad News

Captain America: Brave New World held up well over the long Presidents' Day weekend, but early projections for this weekend point to a significant (but not disastrous) drop for the latest MCU movie...

Captain America: Brave New World will remain at #1 during its second weekend in theaters but, as feared, it's facing a pretty big drop. While that's not good news for the MCU movie, this is by no means a disaster.

As first reported by Deadline, current projections point to Captain America: Brave New World earning roughly $30+ million this weekend. Its biggest competition will be The Monkey, a new horror movie from Longlegs director Oz Perkins. That's eyeing a $17 million debut.
Back to Captain America: Brave New World, and even though $30 million is a 70% decline from its four-day Presidents' Day weekend opening, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up's three-day haul was $88 million. As a result, it's facing a weekend-to-weekend drop of around 65% which is better than both Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (-70%) and The Marvels (-78%).

Analysts have been saying for days that the movie needs to dodge a similar freefall to avoid crashing and burning at the box office, so at the very least, Captain America: Brave New World should break even.

On Tuesday, the blockbuster earned $6.3 million to take its five-day total to $106.3 million, placing it only $21.1 million behind the Ant-Man threequel at the same point in its run.

Captain America: Brave New World isn't going to be one of the year's biggest hits but if it can at least get into the same territory as 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger ($370.6 million), then there's a good chance Sam Wilson will get to wield the shield again in his own solo outing.

Mistakes were made with the movie. Still, Marvel Studios can learn from those and Anthony Mackie is already confirmed for a lead role in Avengers: Doomsday.

We shall see. I'm a results based person, so I want to see how the weekend plays out. These projections on MCU weekends have been spotty recently.

Doing just better than Quantumania and The Marvels isn't some badge of honor. That'd be like saying this movie is better than the Sony Spider-Man universe movies- it's not a high bar. When the best argument this article can make is 'Well, it's doing better than the two lowest,' you've lost the plot and looking for a way to overlook that yes, this movie won't have as big a drop as two other films, but it will still be a massive drop.

If you want to take a positive out of all of this opening up at 80 mil is still good nowadays. The interest is there, just needs to work on the result.

The price of movies, the weather, the state of the country, don’t think people care about average movies right now. Going to take real word of mouth to get butts in seats. You can call it captain America but pretty much a Falcon movie. It would be like DC making a cyborg movie with the Justice league. Is Falcon a fan favorite? Not a marvel fan

Smething tells me that if the estimates indicated that BNW was going to be the next Joker 2, at least some people wouldn’t be so quick to doubt the results.
