So an ”ok” to ”very solid” MCU movie is what for example… a mid to high 70’s on RT with an average rating of 6.5.
@MyTimeToShineH says, "The buzz I'm hearing about Captain America: Brave New World is that it's 'okay'—a classic three-star movie. Not great, not terrible, just serviceable."
Daniel Richtman, meanwhile, has said he's heard the movie is "meh."
It felt like Marvel had no confidence in Anthony Mackie taking over for Chris Evans and turned this into a Hulk sequel. With Betty, Leader and Ross this movie feels more like an Incredible Hulk sequel with Captain America making a guest appearance.

Serpent Society. They also burned through storylines that could have been in a Capt 4 in Falcon & Winter Soldier.
This review is all over the place. Kinda awesome. But not a blast. Classic Marvel fun, looks great...needed script polishing. I can't even tell if they really liked it or not.
Different context. The reshoots for LOTR were scheduled well in advance. In the case of Cap 4 since it was such a cobbled together film in the first place, reshoots were most likely a knee-jerk reaction to what execs and/or test audiences didn't like. Not really interested in seeing this film at all, but I’m surprised at so many people using the reshoots as cause for concern. Reshoots are a pretty common thing for movies. I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy and it wasn’t until I listened to the commentary that I realized how much of those movies were reshoots. For example Legolas taking down the Olyphant in Return of the King was part of reshoots.
Yeah I almost miss the way it was when I was a kid in relation to anticipating big movies. When Spider-Man was coming out in 2002 all I knew about that film was anything released officially. So just the trailers, tv spots, interviews, and merch. Interest in the film was 100% on the marketing department.Knowing before hand that a movie had problems being put together and that it was constantly rewriting itself is in the back of people's heads and that affects the viewing experience, whether you like it or not.
I think we have waaaay too much information during the production of a movie, specially from Marvel. I honestly don't know how to skip that kind of stuff without *not accessing the internet at all*.
Scoopers are ruining the experience.
It all comes down to the extent and purpose of the reshoots. Not really interested in seeing this film at all, but I’m surprised at so many people using the reshoots as cause for concern.
