Captain America: Brave New World - News & Speculation Thread

I think we have to see how it plays out. I have zero hype for Doomsday, but if it makes like 2 billion, then Falcon Cap underperforming won't mean much. Also won't mean much if Thunderbolts and FF do well. So we have to see how the year plays out in totality

Thunderbolts has a lot of work cut out for it since it’s birthed from two very mediocre Marvel titles Black Widow and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Most of your general audience won’t know who most of these characters are. Not that that can’t work (Guardians of the Galaxy) but the film will have to do a lot of heavy lifting.

If it's well written, it will stand on its own and know how to swiftly reintroduce all of the characters for the audience.

Thunderbolts I can see doing better critically but commercially I’m not expecting much success there.

Jeff Sneider says there’s blood in the water now at Marvel which is why the crew member spoke out in the Vulture report and why Vulture had the guts to write about it in the first place.

I think Marvel just needs to start bank-rolling more experienced directors, especially on established brands like Captain America.

A $2 billion dollar franchise and they hire the guy from Cloverfield Paradox? Was everyone else busy?

Cloverfield Paradox was a real 💩 of a movie.

We’ll see if Thor 5 ever goes anywhere with 79 year old George Miller attached.

What a mess. Disney stock has gone nowhere for ten years.

This is a company that still continues to struggle.

100%

Nothing lasts forever, everything has a shelf life.

Change is the price of survival.

I have good news for anyone who liked the hackneyed pep talk at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Brave New World was good. It’s not amazing, it’s not very good, but I had a good time with it. Mackie is great, I’m just not sure why they chose this story for his debut Cap film. But it was tense seeing a Cap that hasn’t taken the super juice in some of these fights.

As expected they do pull their punches politically trying to stay as in offensive as they can. It also ask the audience to remember a film many either haven’t seen or only saw once back in 2008 and maybe forgot it was even canon. Sure they’d been filtering in parts of it in the MCU like William Hurts Ross in Civil War, Infinity War, and Black Widow and Tim Roths Abomination in Shang Chi and She Hulk but still idk if the general audience really remembers TIH it’s clear half the critics didn’t lol.

So it's better than Thor The Dark World and Black Widow?

The only thing I liked about Black Widow was the family dynamic with Yelena and Alexei. Everything else fell completely flat for me.
